We stopped by the Hillcrest Wine Farm today as I wanted to buy some olives. We were hungry so decided to eat at the restaurant instead of carrying on to another wine farm. The restaurant was busy as it was a glorious day but we managed to get a table outside with not too much of a wait. The waiter was very nice. I found the menu very limiting. You had a choice of a buffet R99 which consisted of "meat ball curry" to start and then "lamb rogan gosh" and "butter chicken". As I dont eat red meat I couldnt go for the curry so went for a "Greek Salad" which was so so. Not much to write home about. SOme lettuce - ONE small tomatoe cut in 4, some olives from the farm, a few pieces of lettuce and that was it. R52 and not bread. Bread was R15 extra for a few slives which was a rip off. Hubby didnt feel like a burger as he had had one the day before so opted for a panini with steak which he said was very nice. It was a few slices of steak on a panini roll. I felt it was very expensive at R89.00. Also they only gave you a choice of 2 wines per glass which i felt was very poor seeing they were on a wine estate. Its not the best place to eat at but it filled the gap. It was ok. Not something I would go back to in a hurry.
