“A good way to experience local culture and food in an idyllic and relaxing setting.”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Stayed here Late Sept 2012
A lovely place to spend a week experiencing the delights of Tuscany.
The family were very friendly and made us feel like an extended family member.
The food was tasty, local cuisine and plentiful!
The accommodation was simple but spacious en-suite rooms that matched the general surroundings well.

We stayed a week here with Exodus in mid- September 2012 and felt so warmly welcomed, cared for and relaxed. The home cooking using farm and locally-sourced products was inspirational and delicious. Sara Bull is an exceptional person and always seemed to go the extra mile in catering for all our needs without compromising her position as a professional guide. We felt totally safe at all times. The Garfagnana area is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt and I am certain we will be returning one day.

Room Tip: Our room was facing east and we had the most breathtaking view from the window.

Stayed for a week in early Sept. 2012 and loved everything. No complaints at all. Ten out of ten. Very clean throughout. Friendly family owners and excellent walking with Sara Bull. Will give very positive comments about this location to anyone.

I stayed here with Exodus on a walking holiday, our guide was Sara Bull. I was blown away by the location and the food was truly amazing. Mamma and her daughters are amazing cooks and the food was truly unbeatable. Our guide Sara was one of the most inspirationaly leaders that I have ever met. She was unfailingly cheerful and enthusiastic and maded sure that all abilities within the group were totally catered for. We even had the accompaniment of the faithful Sabi on the walks - such an amazing dog who, it is rumoured, is part wolf. She certainly made sure that the group were well looked after and would regularly go from the front to the back of the group to make sure that everyone was OK. The mountains which we climbed gave us brethtaking views of the coastline and the valley walks were suitably awe inspiring. The accommodation is pretty basic, but after a large breakfast, amazing packed lunch, a full day of climbing up mountains and an enormous dinner I slept like a log! you can get to there by train pretty easily (from Pisa, via Lucca).

We stayed as independent travellers with a toddler for a week and had a wonderful relaxing time. We stayed in the 'timo' lodge which was small but suited our needs well, the large grassy area outside was perfect for my son to play and the pool and play area were a few moments walk away which we enjoyed on our own most times. The best thing about this place are the views, warmth of hospitality and 'getting away from it all'. We explored the local towns and villages with day trips and had a hire car for the whole time which is certainly needed by a family like us.

Of the 7 nights we stayed we had dinner at Braciccorti 3 nights which was lovely and the remaining nights ate at a local festival and restaurants in the surrounding towns and villages. Dinner at Braciccorti was the best and my 2 year old loved them too, was great to sit around the table and hear about others' days and enjoy the wine and food.

I would recommend this to travellers who want to avoid the crowds and who enjoy the peace and beauty of nature and a warm welcome.

I stayed here for a week with Walking Women and had one of the best holidays ever. We stayed in Rupert and Angela's accommodation and enjoyed every minute of it. Some of the accommodation was in the main house (ensuite rooms) and the rest was in small chalets on the hills looking out on the most amazing views. I stayed in Chalet Erica - three double rooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and sitting area with its own patio.

There is a lovely relaxed feeling about the whole place and Angela's bubbly personality contributed to a very happy stay.

The food was delicious - fresh homecooked fare. I enjoyed the vegetarian options very much but as we were walking most days, could have done with more protein.

Being able to have a refreshing swim in the good-sized pool was a real bonus.

Highly recommended!
