“A fantastic meal”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We visited on saturday evening and had a lovely meal. We'd booked a table in the restaurant which is maybe a good idea as it was very busy. We had a selection of starters and mains that were excellent, with choices from the standard and special's menu. The only downside was the price of the mulled wine! Overall we thought that this was one of the best pub meals that we'd had in a while, excellent food and good service. We will be returning and recommeding it to friends.

“Fantastic sunday lunch”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

I took my family for sunday lunch and my elderly grandmother who often says she cant taste food, LOVED her meal! She had a pensioner sized portion as requested and was then able to enjoy her favourite pudding, trifle. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and was able to taste all the flavours.
My children and the rest of my family also enjoyed their meals. Its definitely a family friendly restaurant. They also put a candle in my mothers pudding so we could sing Happy Birthday to her.
Will be visiting again soon!

“Lovely..Lunch..Lovely Staff!!!”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

We have just returned from an excellent Lunch here....we were a party of four and we all really enjoyed everything we had!!
Very pleasant welcome upon arrival from the young man behind the bar and efficient service. We sat in the restaurant and we were served by a team of three also very nice young ladies...the food was served piping hot and all freshly prepared.
Very good value....I just enjoyed the whole experience along with a FULL Restaurant (On a Wednesday!!!) of Happy Customers...It all speaks for itself really. We shall certainly be back!!!

“Did us proud!”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

After visiting the oak over a year ago my partner and i was so impressed with the place we decided that we would love to have our civil ceremony reception there..we wanted somewhere where the service was good and friendly and the food great.( nowhere else in coventry could match that as far as we were concerned) so after talking to luci a date was set..she helped us set out the menus for the day, drinks ect ( even my favourite orange juice)! infact anything that we wanted.
Bev offered to do the flowers for the tables and they promised that it would all look great on the day.OH MY GOD when we walked in we were both blown away..the room looked amazing, the attention to detail was brilliant and lots of little extra's that gave it a personal touch.
There was 33 of us and the food all came out together, hot and totaly fabulous! the service was excellent and the whole atmosphere of the room was buzzing. nothing was to much trouble and all the staff contributed to making our day so special..everyone of our family and friends all commented on how gorgeous the food was and loved the pub.( john your a wonderful ) We cant thankyou enough for exeeding all our expectations on our amazing day and pulling out all the stops for us..FABULOUS.x

“Good offer but probably need to go in the evening to get full blown experience”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

We went to The Royal Oak for lunch and had quite high expectations after reading the reviews on TA.

When we got there it was very busy which created a nice buzz about the place and good atmosphere. The waiter found us a table and we were offered drinks pretty quickly and also given a 2 for 1 menu each. Loads of choice with most of the dishes around the £10 mark.

The food came reasonably quickly and was OK, but not quite what I was expecting after the raving from all the reviews on TA, but for effectively £5 a dish I cannot complain. It was hot and tasty, chips were a bit odd being thin and cooked with their skins on. However, in Hindsight I see that a lot of the reviews are about the Sunday lunch serving, or evening meals. All in all the lunch menu food was OK.

I can see why The Royal Oak do this offer for lunch sittings because it obviously draws in a lot of people who are retired or work locally, and it was nice to see a pub so busy in the daytime too.

All the other bits were good. Service, cleanliness, good range of beers, etc, etc...

We will certainly be going back on a Sunday to sample the tasty Sunday roast that everyone is going on about :o)
