“Love this little cottage in the countryside!”
Reviewed July 7, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This lovely little cottage in the beautiful countryside is the perfect retreat. Depending upon your interests you can simply relax and enjoy the bucolic location, or, explore the small villages and their daily markets, visit the many chateaus nearby, hike in the forests and enjoy hidden gems like the co-op winery that has excellent champagne or the chevre farm that also has a nice restaurant for lunch.

The cottage itself is well appointed, very clean and well "kitted out." The bathroom is large, immaculate and looks out on the salt water pool. (Which was a lovely diversion on a hot afternoon in June!)

Karen and Craig are wonderful hosts. Our first visit was over 10 years ago. We've returned many times and with each subsequent visit their warmth and welcoming manner make us feel as though we're staying with old friends.

I would definitely advise you to add this to your itinerary!

What can we say, but: "thank you".

We just love having returning guests.

We have gone from folks coming to celebrate their honeymoon or anniversary, to then bringing their children and as we had earlier this season: grandchildren!

I guess it's safe to say, we are on our 3rd generation....

Crazy but certainly a delight!

Looking forward to the next visit,
Karen & Craig.

And, we were so happy to see these guests leave looking refreshed and ready for the upcoming summer!

If you are feel like a quiet (or take in all of the chateaux and wineries you wish!)place to read, swim--in our heated saltwater pool--and have a heavenly nights sleep: La Barauderie" is certainly the place to stay.

Thanks again for yours,
Karen & Craig

Make this a week or two on your bucket list. Karen and Craig wrote the book on class and service.
The property is immaculate and you will feel at home in your home away from home.
Craig and Karen are also world class sailors that have more stories than Captain Hook.
Let the them show you the French countryside most do not see.

Although we are not world class "sailors", we certainly feel like a world apart with this stunning review!

How did I not get to responding until now?!?

We are in our 23rd season this year (and 25 in the Loire) and work very hard to make sure that each year we give our guests something new, as we have a LOT of guests who return year after year.

Plus, let's face it, it's fun for us to tug at this and refine that.

But, immaculate is our middle name!

So, go ahead and put us on your bucket list.....

And, thank you again for your visit and wonderful review,
Karen & Craig.

If you have transport this is one the best and relaxing stays I have had in a long time. Karen and Craig were very hospitable and couldn't do enough for us yet were able to leave us to our own devices. It was perfect for us to unwind. The cottage is adorable and has everything you need for a few days stay, even longer if you want.

Yes, you do need a car to stay here--or be an avid bicycler (bikes can be rented easily and inexpensively)--as we're out in the countryside.

That's what makes it so peaceful here!

Big sky, birds galore, wildlife and a sweet stone cottage to return to when you're ready to rest.

I am glad so many of our guests have such a relaxing stay!

I guess that's why they keep retuning....

Many thanks,
Karen & Craig.

We always look forward to Joan and Bruce's visits, because after all of these years, we feel like we are welcoming old friends "home".

Each year we do something new to the cottage to improve our returning and new visitor's stays.

This year they are new a mattress and pillows.

I guess it works.....

Hoping the next visit is sooner rather than later!

Karen & Craig.

“Perfection...”
Reviewed December 8, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

A piece of heaven…
What can we say but Awesome!! Karen Kenady & Craig Cantor are the perfect hosts. We loved there beautiful cottage near a quaint little town called Pontlevoy. It was just far enough away to provide the perfect getaway, yet close to some of the most beautiful Chateaus in the Loire Valley. Karen’s recommendations were all spot on, local farmers markets, restaurants, and of course Chateaus in the valley. We really enjoyed all the special touches, homegrown tomatoes, fresh cream, homemade jam and a variety of croissants. The kitchen is perfect and has all we needed to prepare a meal.

We loved Chateau Chenonceaux! There were beautiful flower arrangements throughout the Chateau. A second favorite was Chateau de Chambord. Karen made dinner reservations at Auberge de L’Cole for our Anniversary. What a charming restaurant, amazing food and service. The only disappointment was our time was too short. I hope our next visit we will be able to enjoy the pool and some of the bike trails in the area.
Thank you, Karen and Craig

Well--thank you, Diane and Mark!!!!!

What lovely words to express your time here.

.. And, boy didn't we book "the honeymoon" well in advance?

Wish the weather could have been better for the cycling you hoped to do, but Mother Nature is what she is.....

Both Craig and I were so happy to finally meet you and have you here!

Let's just hope that the next visit,, as you say, is longer for exploring other parts of the Loire, near to "La Barauderie".

With warm regards and best wishes for a Happy New Year,
Karen & Craig.

Our "personal touch" seems to be: think of where we want to stay and then stay out-of-the-way until approached. When we go on vacation, we like to left to our own "devices" unless we need something or someone, so that's what we do here.

We let our guests know that we are always available, but also that the cottage is theirs.

Much more comfortable and homey that way, we think.

And, we live the fairy tale, by living here all year 'round!
