“Not good”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2011

Had a weird evening here - a very long menu but the chef lost his temper as 5 of us ordered 5 different things! We could hear the shouting from the dining room. Food was mixed - some very good and some average. The lady serving us did her best but it was very slow and the several erruptions from the kitchen were not condusive to a pleasant and relaxing evening.

“Best meal during our two week trip in France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2011

The Chef-Owner David Moreau provided us with an incredible meal and a lovely evening. We had been touring chateau and this was one day we had driven a little farther from the cottage we had rented. We entered the restaurant as weary travelers and left it completely satisfied and energized by the fun culinary journey created by our chef. The scallops were incredible and if the chef has his smoked duck, definately order that starter. We wished there was an open evening left on this trip to go back and try one of the other interesting dishes on the menu. We also found the meal to be great value given the quality of the food.

“An excellent accomadation in everyway..one of the best meals we have ever had.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2011

This is a small inn the the Loire Valley area located in the small village of Pontlevoy very near Amboise. The young owners , Agnes and David, provide an atmosphere of superior service and extraordinary cuisine. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and extremely clean. The traditional French breakfasts and dinners ( everynight but Wednesday) are prepared with much care and beautiful presentation. Prices are very fair for the services received. We were four ladies from the U,S. traveling in the area . Their English is superb and they are very personable. Would highly recommend the Hotel and the Restaurant.

“a gem in the valley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2011

the quiet restaurant charmed with superior service (very much so compared to paris) and a frequently updated menu based on local and fresh meats and vegetables. -loved the seared foie gras, slow cooked lamb and rabbit...and the fresh produce was refreshing to the pallet. the atmosphere is cozy with what appears to be original stonework and a warm fire. we appreciated the staffs' openness in answering questions and recommending pairing wines. we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through or staying in pontlevoy.

“Highlight meal of a week in France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2010

After 5 dinners at "destination restaurants" in the Loire Valley and 2 in Paris, my wife and I agree That Hotel lEcoles restaurant was absolutely the BEST. Agnes and her wait staff could not have been more pleasant and charming. The food was exquisite, fresh and delicious. The chef came out of the kitchen to add a few fresh logs to the wall to wall fireplace. Fellow diners, French, German English and fellow Americans expressed their delight with each new course.
