Just off the main road, very easy to find and get to other main attractions, this is a absolutly beautiful place to stay and would highly recommend. The staff were very helpful and front of house where always at breakfast for any questions you had and to ensure you got the best out of every day! The grounds are kept very well and the room (we stayed in number 1 i think, in house at the front) gorgeous! :o) The room was huge with extremly comfy bed and lots of space with high ceilings, dont leave your windows open as the monkeys will venture in :o)
It is very easy to get around South Africa in general, the roads and signs are very good, we found this was a great location. Zinzi and The Lemon Grass are a must visit! Both fantastic restaurants, The Lemon Grass is on the beach and has the most amazing views, id recommend going for lunch as you wont see this at night. Tenikwa cheetah santurary and the elephant place across the road has to be the highlight of my trip!
Thank you to all the staff at Lairds, our stay was such an enjoyable one!

We did the garden route and stayed there for two nights. It was awesome.

Don't be fooled by the map it is actually a bit away from the highway. When you are looking for it just make sure to keep your eyes open for the sign.

Room was lovely; I am sure you read from everyone who wrote a review here. But note that there is no TV in the (my) room (but plenty of magazines). There is wifi in the room so that's all I need!!!!

Decoration of the place is brilliant. I am going to re-decorate my place to be like that.

Please do not miss dinner. Best meals I had during the trip. You can feel the effort put in from each dish. And do not miss breakfast. Best of the best.

Sue will chat with you every morning to see what you feel like doing. We went hiking!

Well a heads up though is all drinks will be billed to you at the end...I believe including the welcome drink since the other couple said yes to champagne and they got a fresh bottle pop opened for them....it's not expensive don't take me wrong; I am just the kind who doesn't like surprises on my bill.

And for some reason everyone else were a bit advanced in age so me and my husband who were there for honeymoon felt a bit out of place.

Room Tip: I assume all rooms were equally lovely........

My parents and I travel a lot and for the 5 nights that we stayed here we tried to think of anywhere we may have stayed in the world that was better that Lairds Lodge. We failed.
Lairds Lodge is without a shadow of a doubt the most wonderful place to stay.
The facilities are well designed, clean and well maintained. The food at breakfast and dinner was the best we ate on our 2 weekstay in SA.
The staff (especially Bani and Cecelia) deserve a well earned break as they all worked tirelessly to ensure that we wanted for nothing during our stay.
We also had the pleasure of meeting most of the family that own the hotel, who came around at breakfast to advice on day trips and places to go. We felt that they went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy, this included sorting out a new car when ours broke down (we had a new one within 30mins) and arranging a magnificent meal at Fat Fish when we had a bad experience at another resturant the night before.
I could go on about how much I love this place but instead I will urge anyone travelling to the Plettenburg Bay area to stay for a night or two to experience the amazing place that is Lairds Lodge!

We did not stay at this Hotel, but the owners very kindly let us have an evening meal. Normally evening meals are for residents only. But I must say it was a Wonderful experience.
When we arrived we where met at the gates as we drove in by 2 members of staff. 2 really charming guys, we where escorted into the Hotel, they said we where welcome to look around the Hotel. Dinner was served at 8pm, but before dinner they gave us a glass of excellent sparkling wine, which was as good as some Champagnes. We then went into dinner, beautiful dining room. We then had a 3 course dinner, the food and presentation was excellent, followed by coffee. The bill came to about £40 which is less than half you would pay in the UK. Certainly worth a stay just for the food. We shall definetly stay next time we are in the area. Never met the owners, but thank you for a wonderful evening.

If you are travelling the Garden Route make sure you spend at least a couple of nights here.
Everything is first class. When you arrive you can instantly see its a cut above the rest.
Lovely greeting from the girls at reception. Rooms are lovely, with a small private patio outside.
Food is exceptional, my wife can be a bit fussy, but nothing is too much trouble and they will change to suit. Compliments to the chef - top class gourmet food.
Breakfast was great, especially sitting out in the courtyard in the morning sunshine.
Thanks also to the guys who are washing your car before you start out for the day - a lovely touch.
As I said if your are heading to Plettenberg, make Lairds your first choice you will not be disappointed.

An absolute gem of a place to stay. A home away from home. We were greeted by Joy like an old friend and shown to our room, one of the lodges out the back. The lodge is situated on some beautiful gardens which you must traverse if your room is not part of the main house.

On the outskirts of Plett, it is ideally located to visit many of the attractions on the garden route and is within reach of Kynsna, Bloukrans Bungee and Tsitsikamma NP. Something for everyone.

Each day, the breakfast spread was sumptuous and set you up perfectly for the day ahead. The staff were unbelievably friendly and always willing to suggest ideas for our day trips. The highlight for us, was definitely the evening meal. 4 courses of absolute extravagance with an emphasis on local cuisine, our first real exposure to it. Magical stuff.

From start to finish, we were made to feel more than welcome and left Laird's with some of our best memories and experience with South Africans, from our whole trip

This was not our first time at Lairds Lodge, and there is a reason we keep going back. Owners Alison and Murray have managed to create the perfect recipe between service par excellence and a completely relaxed and homely atmosphere. Their perfectly trained team who head up this gem of a country estate exude a positive 'anything, anytime, anywhere' attitude. Added to this, the food is sublime and we found no reason to venture out for dinner and instead relish in the knowledge that a new exciting menu was presented each night. The food is out of this world; beautifully presented but not pretentious. Breakfast is a whole gourmet affair on its own and sets you up for the day, exploring all that this beautiful part of the Garden Route has to offer.

Room Tip: Room 11 is incredibly spacious and the decor gorgeous. But all rooms are really special.
