“Unexpected delight”
Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

We got to this place without any planning, on our way from sorrento to pompei.
Local place with basic setup but great food!
We had the house antipasti, crocche gigante, with mozzarella. Watch out, the portions are huge. Get one for two. To follow, we got homemade pasta and misto di pesce.

“Delicious”
Reviewed May 14, 2014 via mobile

We tasted risotto, pasta, pizza and deserts. The food is definitely delicious and fresh, especially seafood. People are friendly and kind. Do not miss this place. I suggest the vino/limoncello della casa.

“A very enjoyable and good value option”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We were staying at Luigi's place Villino Castellano and I was aware that he had a deal with this restaurant for 12 Euros fixed menu including a bottle of house red.
We arrived with not a great deal of expectation and were very pleasantly surprised. Amount of food on offer for 12 euros was way too much for us to finish. And the quality of the food was pretty good. In fact in my opinion their ravioli was much better than Tico Tico, which was more expensive. The ravioli literally melts in your mouth.
I actually didn't like their famous Croce Gigante that much. Must say when it comes to Pizza; simple is the best. Their simple Marinara/Margherita was one of the best that we had over our 3 weeks of travel in Italy. And my favourite was the fried Zucchini flower. Yum yum !!
I do not have a sweet tooth but their Lemon cake even made me go for a second helping.
The house red was quite palatable.
We went back twice more during our stay and tried various food from the main menu and were very happy most of the time. Perhaps the Gnocchi Sorrento style was a bit disappointing. We are vegetarians so can't comment on the non-veg items.
Compared to Sorrento, Meta hardly gets any tourists and the restaurant was filled with locals. They have an outdoor area as well but we preferred to sit indoor in the A/C section. The decor is not that posh but the people were very friendly, especially the lady who took our orders. She spoke reasonable English. Service was prompt and they accept card.
They tend to get crowded from 9 Pm onwards. Also have a take away service.
We walked back to Luigi's place around 11 PM without facing any trouble apart from being followed by a few stray dogs !!
So in a nutshell: Strongly recommended.

“Good value locals restaurant”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

This is a brightly lit family restaurant that is maybe not the option for a romantic meal but has good, home cooked food and is popular with locals by the looks of it. We went there 3 times. We liked the mussel soup, spaghetti with clams and Sorrento gnocchi. We weren't so keen on what the restaurant seems to be famous for which are what looks and taste like, giant potato croquets. Pizzas are also very good. Local wine also. Should also mention there's the ubiquitous tv on in the corner common to many Italian restaurant; good for checking out the football but maybe not so popular with the wife!

Best meal we had in Italy. Great potato croquettes. Great pasta. Great wine. Great value. Worth hiking up the hill to find it.
