My husband and I just returned from spending Christmas in Macugnaga which was absolutely wonderful. Our last night we decided to try to make reservations for this restaurant as we had heard it was very popular and difficult to just get in at the last minute. We were very pleased when they said they could give us a table. We ordered a bottle of 2009 Chianti Classico and the Steak in Barrolo Wine sauce. All I can say is it was to die for! The fillet was perfectly cooked, the Parmesan wafer the steak rested had just enough tang, the sauce was heavenly, the tiny roast potatoes perfect, and so were the accompanying vegetables. They gave us a small home made ricotta cheese starter which was fantastic. With coffee afterwards we were given what was similar too but much better than home made fudge. Beautifully made but not heavy just melt in your mouth nummy! We have both sampled cuisine at Michelin Star restaurants around the globe and this venue is right up there with the best. We have already decided to make a pilgrimage back to have another amazing and memorable meal at this establishment!
