Just stayed in the hotel for an extended weekend. Don't think I would have stayed merely on the basis of their web site as I find the entire "rustic/romantic" feel incredibly corny - however, I guess that comes with the Austrian mountain atmosphere... I have visited their spa/wellness previously and think it one of the best in the valley.

We (three adults) stayed in their Geniesser-Suite, which was spacious, could easily sleep 4, had a separate walk-in dressing room, large bathroom with bath and a shower and a large balcony. The rooms were nice and clean.

We had 3/4 board included - meaning an amazingly rich breakfast with all sorts of options (I missed porridge, but was told off by my friends ;)), snack after skiing (at around 4pm) and a full dinner (always at least 2-3 choices off the 3-course daily dinner menu). And the food was very good.

The wellness was my reason for booking - having been there previously (during low season they let us in eventhough we weren't staying in the hotel), I wanted to combine the great skiing and the relaxation after it. They have a small pool and a nice outside jakuzzi plus a variety of saunas (90 C, 60 C and steam).

As for skiing, the nice thing is that the hotel runs its own ski shuttle, so they will take you to the glacier in the morning. For some reason they cannot operate it also for the return (I understand the resort operator doesn't let them), so you need to take the public bus... however, it goes every 15 minutes after 2pm and stops about 50 meters from the hotel, so it's not that big of a problem. One day we skied with the hotel's Ski Guide (Sepp) - which was a great way to experience the mountains from a local's perspective (however, it consists almost entirely of free skiing routes and can be quite physically demanding).

Overall a very nice experience and would definitely plan to come again.

Excellent wine list and very good kitchens. Wellness centre is very good for a hotel of this size and it was great to see the level of cleanliness - the outdoor jacuzzi (lovely) was emptied and cleaned every morning. Brilliant.

I stayed there the week before the Easter holiday; the hotel was pleasantly full but not crowded. The week after - I stayed for one night into the next week - was very different. Chaos! The pool was crowded every afternoon with children shrieking and jumping in with large inflatables. In the jacuzzi, children were throwing a ball to each other - watched by their adoring parents!

I confirm what others have said about rooms facing the road. They do get traffic noise from about 6.30am. Fortunately the rooms are not overheated so there is no need to sleep with the window open although, given a choice, the rooms facing towards the back would be better.

Ski guiding was fine and the ski room was well heated so boots were dry the next day. Good system of mini bus lifts to the Hintertux glacier and the ski bus stops about 100 meters away from the hotel. Very convenient.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back quieter.

We spent 10 days skiing holiday in Bergland Hotel last year.

To cut the usual story (about spacious rooms and cleanliness) short: the hotel is fine. However, the important word is "Romantic" which goes with the name. It deifinitely is!
Where else could I get an outdoor jacuzzi in February, as well as an outdoor hut filled with hay where you can.. erm... drink champagne? :) There are also some romantic hideaway places in the main spa building.
The food was lovely, starting with entrees to main courses and desserts. The hotel sommelier may help you with the wines, if you wish.
What is quite important for people being almost completely ignorant of German language, we got a lovely, English speaking waitress and a receptionist who helped us when we were lost for words.
You can buy a skipass directly in a hotel. There is also a shuttle bus taking you from the hotel to the glacier.
I'd say that it's a perfect honeymoon hotel for ski-lovers!

I just spent four days in Hotel Bergland in Hinterux/Madseit. Travelled with two friends, we had three single rooms.

The good things:
The hotel is run by the family, and they all work there on daily basis, keeping eye on everything.
The service is great, everybody friendly and helpful.
The food is excellent, even at the time of low season when we were there (breakfasts, afternoon salads and cookies, multi course dinners). Good wine list and they know perfectly how to serve wine. The son of the owner is the licensed sommelier, and a nice person to talk to.
Very good wellness facilities. The "textile" part (the in-door pool, the outside whirlpool and garden) separated from the "naked and relaxing" area (various and spacious saunas, silence rooms) so those with more active attitude would not disturb you when you want to relax. By the way, the hotel is apparently (and successfully) inviting and attractive for couples. I did not see any kids-oriented facilities, which is fine.
The hotel is situated just three minutes by car from the lift to the Tuxertaler Glacier, so very attractive for skiers.
They have free internet there, which was helpful for one of us.

The bad things - actually just one:
The hotel building is located just on the side of the road up to the glacier, so it is noisy there in the rooms located on the road side. I have requested the especially silent rooms and was given one (as said above, the service is great and helpful). My colleagues who had their rooms from the front side told me that any light sleeper would not be able to sleep there (they did not care much). So if you care of silence at the nightime, be cautious when checking in on which side you get your room.

All in all, we had great stay in the relaxing place where you feel treated personally and with care. Absolutely recommended.

We had a very relaxing week in this hotel.
In the morning, there's a bus bringing you to the nearby mountains (TUX) / glacier as the hotel is a couple of miles from the elevators

This hotel is runned by a family and they do there utmost best to deliver quality. The food is SUPERB... one gets value for his money. But having a 5 meal course every evening is too much (and it is hard to resist, the food and wines are excellent)
The SPA is outstanding, they have aven a nice hot tub outside (very nice in the snow).
We never felt so relaxed after a week
