“Good alternative when visiting Grand Parc Puy du Fou”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Although predominantly receiving business guests, the hotel is well geared towards accommodating Puy du Fou visitors, which is only 12 km from here. The hotel is situated next to the main road, but the atmosphere is rather peaceful and quiet. Our family room was large and convenient, overlooking the swimming pool. WiFi works well. Reception staff are very helpful and provided patient answers to all our questions. We enjoyed a good meal at the L'Orchidee restaurant, but did not have breakfast, which was too expensive at 12 Euros.

Room Tip: Family rooms have sleeper couches, consisting of two separate beds.

We have stayed at this hotel twice before - and after the first time, we presented the reception with a little teddy bear with a personalised tag - which now features on their website!
They have always been welcoming and helpful both at the hotel, and during the booking process.

The reason for our stay was to visit the Grand Parc Puy du Fou, and the hotel is organised around this superb attraction.
At weekends (Friday and Saturday) in the summer, an evening meal is included - but as we intended to stay in the park for the Cinescenie (evening show), we asked if that night we could leave the evening meal off the bill - and this was accepted.

The family room was large and well appointed in the manner of many French hotels - it is after all just a place to sleep! The internet WiFi was inadequate in our room, but is apparently being improved, but a cabled service was available if you asked at reception.

The swimming pool was welcome and large enough to accommodate all the users during our stay, and drinks were available on the terrace above, from where you could keep watch on other family members.
It catches the sun - but being at on a hill side, had a cooling breeze. The garden was full of flowers, and there were numerous butterflies taking advantage - so much more enjoyable than many hotel pools we have seen.

Because of the evening shows at the Puy du Fou, dinner is served quickly to enable guests to leave in good time to get to the park. The menu was limited to make this possible - but our waitress was more than happy to accommodate changes - such as allowing our son to choose items provided on the children's menu, as he did not fancy the regular desserts.

My advice would be if you want to vary any of the usual routines at this hotel, just ask - they are keen to help if it is possible.

Room Tip: Book in plenty of time for peak periods. Only a few of the new rooms have air conditioning at the ti...

we stayed here for one night with our family. The room was super large and fitted the 5 of us easily. Room was in a newer part of the hotel and everything was perfectly fine. Funny is that in a 2 year old review here is mentioned that the communal areas were not finished yet.....nothing changed...still not finished. For our purpose, just staying a night, it was a good choice

Room Tip: we stayed at level 0 in the new building, rooms have direct access to garden

Picked this as it was reasonably close to Puy du Fou (tip: set off early as the queues come back down the road and from there it can easily be 1/2 hour until you are in the Parc).

Good south facing swimming pool and two tennis courts. Our family room opened out onto the patio area next to the pool. The room we had was spacious and had a power shower attachment. Staff were very helpful.

Like the previous comment, In would recommend a two minute trip down the road to the SuperU for breakfast where you can get a pastry and a coffee for E1.50. Breakfasts in the hotel are E10 pp and, personally, none of our family eat that much to make it worthwhile.

Evening meal was reasonably good value but there are only three choices on the table d'hote menu.

Overall: good hotel

Good points: Clean room, clean bathroom, pleasant room staff, close to Puy du Fou (15 mins on a good run). Swimming pool.

Bad points: communal areas with v worn carpets. One staircase completely unfinished, with bare concrete on walls and bizarrely did not lead to the reception or outside. Other staircase very worn and filthy carpet.

Not good value for money (in my opinion). 150 Euros a night family room. Breakfast 12 Euros per person, including for children ! Go to Hyper U down the road and have a nice French breakfast for 4 people for less than the price of one person at this Hotel !

Evening meal offered in soul-less restaurant. Better off driving into town, where in the square there are 3 nice cafe/restaurants with outdoor tables and a proper atmosphere.

Friends of ours visiting Puy du Fou stayed in a local B&B which was charming and a fraction of the price. I suggest you do the same !

We booked this hotel as it was close to puy du fou. The rooms were a good size for france and the hotel has a pool. One morning we had to ask them to open it as they thought that it was too cold to swim (not so for our 12 year old). We ate dinner at the restaurant one evening and the meal was delicious. They do close down the front desk at night and lock up the front desk area which includes the elevator so if you have mobility issues that could be a problem.
