“Lovely proprietors”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

A super stay at a super & very friendly hotel. Nice rooms (even if we asked for the budget room). Best restaurant around this time of the year as the local travel season is coming to an end. The helpful kitchen staff will pack a pick-nick lunch for hikes/trips in the area, a BIG luncheon! Super! Mr Brun was extremely helpful in clearing out misunderstanding with the local 4x4 taxi service booked for the trip to the Pic de Canigou. Hostes very skilled & knowledgable about local sights, srvices & attractions.
We can't wait to get back, - our best 100% hotel experience in a long time.

We had a lovely peaceful time in the evening, after a beautiful walk in the mountains. Nice people, very good bed, great food. The area's got lots to offer (spa, sight seeing, hiking...), wish we could have stayed longer. A perfect holiday! Thank you.

My husband and I recently spent a few nights here. The owners - Monsieur et Madame Brun - are charming hosts and very welcoming. The hotel was spotlessly clean. We booked a superior room which was spacious, light and airy.
We ate at the hotel twice - the duck in Balsamic and figs was fantastic!
As the Tourist Office was not open, the owner lent us a walking book of the area which was really kind. He also negotiated a taxi rate to take us back to Perpignan airport - much appreciated - thank you!
They were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us.

We've stayed a few days in Vernet-les-Bains, a beautiful small village in the Pyrenees, with endless possibilities of walks, excursions, and cultural visits around the area. We found this hotel in Internet while browsing a website of the area and thought it looked like a small correct hotel for our stay. But it's been much more than that. The hotel is very nice, the owners are very nice people that welcome you with a smile and make you feel at home, the room we stayed in was not big but it was very clean, comfortable and well-equiped, even with hair-dryer, something you don't usually find in small hotels. The bed was very comfortable, good quality for a good sleep. We stayed on half board and we could enjoy our meals because the quality of the food is very good. The views from the rooms facing the mountains are very nice, too.
We liked the area and we will surely go back and stay in the same hotel. Why risk going to another hotel when we've found in this one all we need?
We had the feeling that the owners want to offer their guests the things they would also like to be offered when staying in a hotel.
Both Vernet-les-Bains and Hotel Princess are small pieces of paradise.

Received a warm and friendly welcome when we drove up looking for a room. The landlady (I think) showed us a room with a small balcony, which we took. Good decision!

We ate an excellent dinner on their half-pension plan. Breakfast was simple and good, plus, they did not chase us out even though we showed up late for it.

Our bed was very comfortable and the hotel is on a side-road so there is minimal noise. The only minor drawback to the room was that there was no stand-up shower, only a shower attachment in the bath. This is probably the result of me picking the wrong room….

Very traveller-friendly lobby with a small library of local books and items of interest.

The local town is totally surrounded by mountains so is quiet in the evenings (late Sept 2010). If you are in this area, I would strongly recommend this hotel. We went up to St Martin-de-Canigou the next morning. It was quite a hike up the hill, but had a great reward at the end of it.

This hotel is a good place to stay for visiting the sites of the area - the mountain walks, Vaubin forts, Petit Train Jaune, etc. There is also a spa in this town and one can visit the spa on a daily basis, and stay at the Princess. Some rooms have been refurbished and most have a balcony with mountain views, although some must look over the back towards other properties, but the roofline is very interesting!

The half board is quite a good deal if you are having long days out and want to refuel rather than go out for a gastronomic, xpensive meal. The cuisine is varied and seems to try incorporate local dishes.

Surprisingly, it has a video disco, although we didn't see it operating. There are also adequate public seating areas, one with large TV screen.

  • Liked — comfortable beds and lift for luggage
  • Disliked — the fact that if you varied from the half board menu, you were charged room rate, + breakfast + meal, rather than a supplement
