“Really really bad”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

I normally don't take reviews on Tripadvisor too seriously, finding most of them to be quite petty. So I decided to book into Premiere Montreuil despite the bad reviews. When I first arrived I was pleasantly surprised, the room was nice, simple and clean. It was a decent size room, a good size bathroom, secure parking for our car, a vending machine in the lobby and a pamphlet on our bed explaining how to log on to the wifi. It was within walking distance to a train station as well so we didn't need to drive into the city. I was happy, for an hour or so.

The negatives heavily outweighed the positives. Firstly, the open plan bathroom had very poor drainage, so the entire bathroom flooded whenever we took a shower. I had to turn the shower off after a few minutes as I was worried it would flood into the room. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear other guests coming and going early in the morning and late at night. We could also hear water rushing through the pipes every time someone in the floor above us flushed, it was really loud. The worst of it all was that the cleaning staff COMPLETELY disregard the do not disturb sign. They barely even knock as they walk into your room in the morning, if you're still asleep and tell them you don't want any room service, they will walk away, then come back in 30 minutes later. They then came into our room while we were out during the day, made the bed, took our towels and didn't replace them, and put our do not disturb sign inside our room. We put it straight back up when we returned that evening, only to have them walk in without knocking again early the next morning while we were still asleep. When we went out for the day, the made the bed, returned our towels, but took our do not disturb sign away from us. I don't understand why they even supply their guests with one if they have no intention of regarding it. Between the noises at night and the cleaning staff in the morning I got next to no sleep during my five night stay here.

I have stayed in a lot of cheap, budget hotels, this is the only one I have hated.

We stayed here for ten days . Our room was clean. The sheets were clean but the covers were old and gross. There was an opening on the top part of the window that kept the air circulating all the time and although it made the room cold at least it didn't smell like cigarette smoke. The corriders reeked of cigarettes and there were clouds of smoke even though there were no smoking signs on every door. They have a strict one towel per person policy but actually they would take your towel away and not replace it. We had to argue/beg for a towel the first few days and then we learned to just hide our towel. There is no safe deposit box in the room and I would recomend that if you do have anything of value that you take it with you. This hotel seems to receive alot of group bookings from high schools and you can just imagine the noise. The walls are thin and the kids scream, laugh, fight and bang the doors from one room to the next. This can go on until 1 or 2 in the morning. It really does not matter if you complain...they do not do anything about it.
On a more positive note, there is the 102 bus that stops right in front of the hotel and takes under ten minutes to take you to the nearest train station.
It is unfortunate but like many Parisians the term "customer service" means nothing to them. The people at this hotel are rude and not shy to tell you that they just don't care if you are not happy with something. Despite all the negative reviews, for the ten days that I was there , the hotel was fully booked.

Staff ignored the do not disturb signs and just walk in. The room was not clean and little English was spoken. The rooms are tiny, with the bathroom barely big enough to stand in, let alone move around. The walls are extremely thin and it is a very noisy place at all hours. The car parking is good. The room view is very poor of a boarded up window. The hotel is difficult to find and in a location which does not feel safe at night.

Room Tip: Book another hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 3nights. The website states that it's close to central Paris and Disney, not completely true. It took at least 45 mins to walk to the station and get to the Eiffel tower and 45 mins on the train to Disney. The neighbourhood is pretty depressing. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The room itself was dirty, dark, dreary and hot. The air con on the cold setting only made the room average temp.
The maid walked in on me in my underwear on our last morning then just carried on in and took a pillow from our bed. Also another maid left the skeleton key in our friends room so that they could get into everyone else's room!
The shower was about the only average part of the room.
The hotel has no safe so you have to take all of your valuables everywhere.

I never write bad reviews but it was pretty terrible. I won't be staying here again.

Great value pit stop when travelling but not for a stay of more than an overnight.

Safe Parking (including for bikes / vans etc.)
Good internet
Basic clean facilities

I can understand why This does not meet others needs but they need to pay 2 to 3 times the price. Don't forget you are East end of town not west however the location is safer than it might appear but is clearly not a holiday destination.

Top tip - head to marche croix de chavaux for inexpensive dinner. I ate dinner with the "locals" for a handful of Euros under the covered marketplace where a bar (with a Pelforth sign) that must have been there 100 years set up tables in the unused market area. Absolutely magical.

I would return.

Room Tip: Dont stay here if you are worried by your room aspect. The beauty is out there on the streets wit...

Stayed here with my partner and 11 year old daughter. We needed a stop over on our way south and had booked to climb the Eiffel tower the following evening. We had booked this hotel because it had parking for our van. We were a little shocked by the neighbourhood which felt hostile and dirty. The receptionist told us that there was nowhere locally to eat and we would have to take the metro into Paris to find somewhere. Paris center is 30 mins by metro and the time was 8ish. We felt quite worried about travelling in the locality after dark and so found a local supermarket to buy food.
Room extremely basic but clean and our room next to security door, so banged all night as people entered. Decided to skip our sight seeing the following day as we had had little sleep and didn't fancy travelling out of Paris back to the hotel at night. Hotel staff refused to refund us for the night that we hadn't used.
Breakfast was adequate.
