“Great facilities but very busy site”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

We have just come back from 2 weeks in our motorhome touring Austria and Switzerland. We stayed 5 nights at this site and having researched extensively our expectations were high! We were not disappointed with the site or the facilities which were first class with the bathroom block being better equipped than a lot of hotels! What spoilt it for us was how busy the site was and overrun with hundreds of very noisy children. There is an excellent shop on site which is very well stocked with food, drink and a bakery. There is a large lakeside restaurant which we didn't try but we did have one of their takeaway pizzas which was very good. Despite all the good points we would only return out of season when hopefully it would be more peaceful.

We arrived in a motorhome to spend relaxing days here, but this is not what we´ve found. It was so crowded that we didn´t feel like we had "our space". The surroundings are gorgeous, for sure, but I´d never camp here again, because we needed peace and the place made us even more stressed.

What a beautiful clean, efficient campsite in a truly amazing location. New and spotlessly clean facilities block, with great power showers and super hot water. We went in September, and although a little chilly at night, the rest of the stay was bright sunshine with just the last day of rain. Wonderful frsh clean air. With a regular free bus to Innsbruck city centre, what more could you ask for. Will go again in the not too distant future.

This campsite is fantastic. Clean and spacious, well organised, helpful staff. It is also in a great loacation for access to mountain walks, white water rafting and Innsbruck. The lake is clean and fresh with plenty of slides and trampolines to keep the kids entertained.
The site was busy (mid August!) but we did not find it noisy
One downside, the shop is very expensive.

Stayed with 3 children in a family apartment.
The modern rooms were very clean & comfortable. The living area is small but very cosy. The kitchen had everything was required.
There is no escaping the fact that this campsite is a very crowded, busy & often noisy place during high season. However inside, the apartments it was very quiet & the beds extremely comfortable.
One small point was that as a family we were Unable to sit on the rear patio chairs & tables as realistically it's too small.
The scenery is spectacular & its in a great location ; there is a lot of activities on offer in nearby Innsbruck (7km), Natters (2.5km ) & Mutters. It was also handy having the regular bus service from the campsite entrance into Innsbruck (free for persons using apartments)
Kids loved the swimming in the lake each evening.
The facilities ,including a good shop & staff cannot be faulted. It has bakery and good supply of essentials. Also a good restaurant.
The internet was pricey at 25 euros for the week & patchy for 3 or 4 days. However the owner explained on check out that there had been a lightening storm which had damaged equipment & internet service. Seemed to work better towards end of week once fixed,
Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Some of the smaller campsite pitches appear very close together.

We are experienced campers, with caravan and two little children.

The site is in a wonderful setting, and easily accessible, and in reach of many excursions. The Mutteralmbahn is 3 mins away and worth a trip up (25% off with the provided camp card). The occasional low flying jet liner does disturb the peace, but about 3 or 4 aircraft a day it seemed to us so acceptable.

Remarkable customer service - i ran out of gas and they immediately lent a bottle. Generally very sweet staff.
Gave a lot of help on settling in. We were on a luxus S* pitch, which was very quiet, and shady. It was also safe for the children. Do NOT be tempted to get a luxus s pitch next to the lake if your children cannot swim. Yes, the pitches are absolutely idylic, but i would have nightmares that my 3 year old would slip in (deep and quite murky). There are no safety barriers!! And nobody is watching out.

The Shower cublicles are very generous in size, with own sink. Many family showers which is great.
Children's showers with thunderstorm effect and tv by their sinks was a nice effect and major hit for the kids.
Shower block is a real feature with exhibition of caravans; can sit on the terrace watching tv on the big screen (in our case the olympic games) was great.
Pizzeria across the lake was very nice, great setting - but pricey, and service a little slow. Expect to pay 50 euros for 2 adult pizzas and two kids pizzas and soft drinks.

The downside is that they do feel the need to charge for some things that arguably for the price you are already paying should frankly be included. Examples:
You Pay for jumping on the trampoline (seriously - that is scandalous!), also for the silly compressed air game, etc. the wifi is expensive at E1 an hour, so go for the E25 for a week. The coverage works well. But as said, it should be included in the basic price of the pitch.

Far too few washing machines and dryers for a campsite this large (only two machines). This is a real negative point, because if it rains there is a day long queue for the dryer. (if you have little kids you'll understand...). It costs E5 per washing - Much more than the majority of campsites. The correct price is E3 to 4 not 5.

You can hire tvs, fridges, etc which is quite unusual but worth knowing.

This is a large site and it does feel anonymous. We recommend booking, even if only a week or two before hand to get a luxus pitch. A standard pitch looked tight and too close to where people congregate, or where vehicles are coming and going. There were some awful pitches next to the large bin area! So, best reserve and then enjoy...

We rate as 4 stars as it is faultless, but also a bit pricey in some areas whiich is unnecessary.

I'm sorry, but I didn't find myself very well in this camping. We were travelling around Europe this July 2012 and we changed a camping every night during our trip.
The worst thing about this camping is that I paid 32 euros (for two people and a tent, i think it's quite expensive...) and there were no place to cook our dinner on our own, no tables, no seats, nothing similar like that. I was very surprised because the city of Innsbruck is 7 km far and it's a long way if you arrived late in the evening and you're tired...So we made some sandwiches with the things we have already bought and just eat them standing by the lake watching fishes and chasing away mosquitoes....by the way, all other things were ok: clean bathrooms, wonderful view on the mountains and kind people at the reception.
