all over beautiful, everything is great like in paradise.
The location in a tiny village , the resort in alpine style , the garden , and the huge spa with several saunas, whirlpools, sparkling pools,is a dream
The restaurant offers wonderful meals, you can eat snacks in between all the day, beverages without alcohol are included in the price.
And all this starts with a very warm wellcome at the entrance.

Room Tip: because you seldom are in your room , take the best price room . they are cute and all over comfortable.

We stayed here for our honeymoon as we wanted a mix of luxury, relaxation and activity and this lovely hotel had it all.

Although the hotel is big it is family run and feels very personal. All the staff are friendly and seemed to know or names very quickly. The owners go out of their way to chat to every guest.

The food was amazing. For breakfast, lunch and dinner there is always a choice to order a la carte, from the buffet or just ask the chef to make you something you fancy. All soft drinks are included but alcohol is extra.

The pools are fantastic, outdoor natural lake pools, salt pool, jacuzzi, regular pool, indoor pools, kids pool...

The spa seemed to have everything and we enjoyed the guided sauna sessions in the evenings and the relaxation rooms. (I did have a massage but was not overly impressed as it was done by a man and I did not feel completely comfortable.)

The hotel runs daily activities which included climbing, mountain biking, guided walks, golf. The guides were also happy to arrange additional trips not on the schedule eg canyoning and rafting. Activities generally all incurred an extra charge but were good value.

The hotel itself is made up of several different buildings all linked via underground corridors or a nice walk through the gardens. We stayed in a lovely room above the spa, overlooking the pool. (originally we were in a different room on the other side but I asked to move to a room overlooking the pool and they were happy to oblige).

Overall, I definitely would come back here...need to start saving up again though!

The Alpenresort schwarz has it all. Set in Mieming Austria , it sits in the valley between mountains that sore around the hotel and little town of Mieming. The hotel is set perfectly to enjoy the views and really take in the energy of the landscape. We spent our days hiking above - and the hiking was world-class - Barbara and the moore expreince not to be missed and then afternoons enjoying the spa. We've been to many spas, and I think this was the best. It has an salt pool where you can go and effortlessly float. It has a spa foe women and mem , lots of saunas, and lots of other steam rooms. There is a warm water pool that's both indoor and out. You go outside by going through underwater sliding glass doors. Built into the pool are hot tub like jets and waterfalls. And you can stand in the pools enjoying it while taking in the awesome views. Great massages and services. And then the food. It is also amazing! Breakfast is a bountiful buffet. And dinner has a salad, cheese, fruit, and dessert buffet, and then you order 1, 2, 3 courses from the menu. Or you can have a special order of one of the best meat steak I have eaten Everything I had there was delicious and healthy. What an excellent place to unwind, enjoy, and just be. The rooms are top class and the service- Davide at the reception are the best-

Room Tip: top floor- 3rd

Excellent food, warm swimming pools and beautiful surroundings. Everything you need! Can highly recommend. The whole family loves it. There is something to do for everybody so the hotel never feels crowded. Great play ground for the kids. Free bike rental. Horse stables within 5 min.

I realise that is quite a title but having stayed there many times I do believe it does have everything, everything that is that most families would need to enjoy a family vacation.

The Schwarz as we call it has a long family history going back more than one hundred years when it was one of a number of small neighbourhood farms with a modest inn attached, it was bequeathed by its two lady owners whose surname was Schwarz to the Pirktl family who have owned and run it ever since.

I won't attempt to cover all of the facilities and activities available at the hotel and spa as these are extensively covered on the very comprehensive website which is full of wonderful pictures both summer and winter.

We have stayed at the hotel in summer and in winter and we never fail to be totally charmed by the prevailing atmosphere of warmth and welcome from the family and all of the members of the staff who number some 230. There is a constant sense of belonging with activities going on all around one, during the day we took walks or enjoyed the excellent spa facilities which include everything one could need in this new area called Wellness. Outdoors in the huge garden and grounds one can just laze in the sun or swim in one of the several pools the most interesting of which are the natural water pools without chlorine and with weeds growing around them to provide the natural cleaning and acid balance much like the swimming holes one read about in Mark Twain novels.

This year we stayed in one of the refurbished rooms in OberstGartl 2 and they are a revelation, the bed and pillows met my strict criteria and all of the furnishings were of a high standard. The winner though was the new bathroom which is a joy, with glass walls on two sides it seamlessly joins the room, roman blinds can be lowered for privacy if required. There is a very large bath and a space age shower cubicle which doubles as a steam room and also provides light therapy whatever that might be, regular and rain showers complete the fittings and there is a bench to relax on while enjoying the steam, hot water is instantaneous and the cold water is very cold.
The final touch was the forty two inch TV with all the most important channels, in our case BBC 1,2 and 3 so we were able to enjoy coverage of the Olympics to the full.

It is easy to fall into a gentle rhythm of fine food, modest exercise, extensive lazing followed by more fine food and wine. The cuisine is of a very high standard and includes as you would expect many fine traditional Austrian and local dishes all of which come in man sized portions so do take care as there is always another course on its way. My favourite to finish the meal is a selection of cheeses from the very wide range on offer ranging from sharp tasty hard cheeses to soft creamy brie types all of which are sourced in Austria.

Attached to the hotel is a very fine 27 hole golf course which has some spectacular holes in incredible settings, the championship course is a tough par 72 and there is a great tradition of stopping at the halfway house or the Stöttl mountain hut for a hearty breakfast/lunch served with big bottles of beer all of which is included in your hotel package, surely the best hallway house anywhere.

Every week there is an award ceremony with free champagne and snacks where guests receive awards in recognition of the number of times they have stayed at the hotel, this always fascinates me as it is such a change from most loyalty programmes one encounters.

We shall return next year to enjoy some more of the wonderful hospitality that is offered in abundance by the Pirktl family.

This hotel was recently awarded five star category which is well deserved.

Room Tip: Strongly recommend ObstGartl 2 with the new rooms
