We spent a few days in Bad Mitterndorf, arriving on the 22nd. For Xmas Eve we had booked to have dinner at Hotel Kogler.
We did not stay at the hotel but organised everything via email. This communication channel worked very well and we agreed to have look around before the eve of the 24th. When we arrived, we were met by Mr. Kogler (son) and he not only showed us around but asked us to choose were we would like to sit.
On Christmas Eve we arrived 15min to 7pm and met some of the other folks taking part in what turned out to be a very nice event.
Dinner was made up of 4 courses plus a large plate of christmas cookies for those left hungry. We were served a starter (smoked Saibling fish with pieces of river crab in a bed of jelly), a soup (chestnuts and wine), the main course (traditional Tafelspitz from young bull) and a dessert
Each of the plates was very tasty and had been prepared with a lot of dedication.
After dinner we were treated to a number of Christmas carrols (participation was encouraged as every person received a printed page with the lyrics), some thoughtful as well as humorous poems.
All considered, the familiar setting, the Christmas feel in the hotel and the wonderful food and drinks made this a very memorable evening for the four of us.

I would like to thank the Kogler family and staff very much for a wonderful evening and suggest you all try to visit them when you are in town.
