Excellent service from this 5 star hotel with such good restaurants and spa. We enjoyed the quietness of the room that might need a little renovation but everything is there, especially in the bathroom where Caudalie amenities are quite appreciated. The one star restaurant is just amazing and small attentions everywhere on the site make it a true luxury experience.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool and not the small road

My husband and I recently returned from an unforgettable 4 day getaway at Sources de Caudalie to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Everything was perfect and exceeded our normally high expectations.

The rooms were very comfortable and decorated french county style with a lovely great big bath tub in the bathroom. We also had a view of the pond and the vineyard — which was perfect.

Both restaurants were delicious. We had two very special evenings at La Grand'Vigne - the food was excellent and unusual, and the atmosphere intimate and cozy with staff who were attentive and friendly but discreet - an unforgettable experience. La Table du Lavoir has its own charms - with a bistro country feel, tasty food and a wonderful big fireplace and beautiful scenery.

We went all out with the two day spa experience. All services were unique and well done. Unlike any spa services I have had before in New York.

Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte and grounds are stunning and should not be missed even if you're not a wine drinker and the city of Bordeaux is well worth exploring.

Finally, the service and staff we dealt with at the hotel were friendly and helpful. In all cases they went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We even got to meet the owner. She was gracious clearly has a passion and commitment to create a wonderful experience for her guests.

We will be back!

Room Tip: overlooking the pond and vineyards

Very comfortable rooms, excellent service, two very good restaurants and the Caudalie spa make this a perfect base to discover the surrounding wine region. The Basin d'Arcachon, Bordeaux, St Emillion are all in proximity and great day trips. The surrounding region offers a selection of chateaux to visit for the wine connoisseur and the spa offers the pampering interlude when a break from the wine tasting is called for!

We chose this "chateaux" for its proximity to wineries in Bordeaux. The Chateaux did not have wifi that worked in our room. We needed to go into the hallway or open area to get it to sometimes work. The lighting in the rooms is non existent. Forget shaving or putting on makeup in the bathrooms with any light. The worst lighting in the bathroom for seeing your face. They give you one key per room which makes it very difficult when we were three people to a room and the building is separate from the eating room. We were locked out from our building more than once. Some people had made the lock in the door to our building locked and not shut in order to enter rendering it insecure to be more accessible. When asking for another key, the reply was this request must be submitted to the manager. After four days we had no reply or extra key. We found the menu in the restaurant to be monotonous after four days and asked for a sandwich instead. The sandwich is on the room service menu. One waiter checked with the kitchen and said ok. The main waiter came to our table afterwards and said, "not possible" We asked if we could have a sandwich in our room and he said yes. We, 7 people, got up from the table to eat in our room and the waiter looked shocked that we were leaving. He wanted us to stay and eat from the same menu we had for four days. The person at the front desk heard this and found us a private room where we could all enjoy room service together. We spent well over $400 dollars but felt shamed by the waiter. Thank goodness for the front desk. Before the trip we asked for wine tours. We were referred to Bordeaux Executive Travels by this chateaux, their sommelier. The agency they suggested made us reservations for a restaurant which we prepaid months in advance. The agency the chateaux referred us to cancelled our reservation a week before by accident without telling us. We showed up, were rudely kicked out and we ended up eating outside in the rain. Another suggestion from their referral was to a winery that said we were an hour late, when our confirmation paper had the right time. Their agency said it was not their fault, their co worker did it. The chateaux itself was not into service, inflexible and their referrals for visiting wineries and restaurants did not follow through. More often than not they both made mistakes that ruined our travel experience. Buyer beware.

While it is part of Sources Caudalie, we slept in another chateau "Le Thil" situated 2 min by car from the main facility. This new facility sits in a captivating landscape; rooms were nicely decorated and the disconnect from the main building offers this Chateau a more private setting. The breakfast service is decent but is limited in comparison to the breakfast at the main hotel. One note: no elevator access to the rooms on the first floor which means carrying luggage on the stairs since there was no dedicated service in the building.

We are a group of friends and relatives that every year we select a different traveling route to know interesting areas of our planet. This fall it was the Bordeaux wine region that we targeted because of the famous wines from the area. We stayed at this hotels for 4 nights and used it as our "center of operations" for the next few days while we visited different areas of this wonderful region.
They have two on-site restaurants, for either formal or casual dining and both of them provide a great dining experience within their own specialties.
The hotel staff was extremely cordial and helpful with every request we made from them and always with a smile.
The surrounding vineyards lend it a relaxing and intimate atmosphere that makes the experience even more enjoyable.
The only drawback is that there's only one key per room, and when you access their annex called "the Farm" just about 200 feet from the main building you will need to open the main door with your room key. Sometimes it becomes a little inconvenient.

We stayed 2 nights in their half board package which includes comfort room, breakfast and dinner (1 night each in either of their 2 restaurants). I thought it was a rather good value package. The hotel is easy to find and service is brilliant. Staff even offered to take our luggage from our car. I was happy with our comfort room which was spacious and had a delightful balcony with an equally delightful view of the vineyard. Complimentary grapes and water left at the table was a nice touch. The wifi in the room was good - no wifi in restaurants. Other than toilet amenities, sample sizes of Caudalie facial products were provided and replenished daily - much appreciated! The gym was near to our room and we used it. It was a good size gym but equipment a are all in French. We managed to get them going anyways. Both restaurants are very good both in quality of food, prices and service. Staff are very friendly especially the sommeliers who are very knowledgeable. Recommend to reserve your table as the restaurants are quite busy. The visit to the Chateau was a joy! Very well organized. The hotel grounds are beautiful except for the golf pitching area which looked rather forlorn. We did try to walk to the private jogging track but found that it was a far walk before we can enter the private trail. We gave up walking and went to the gym. Certainly recommend this fine hotel!
