“Awesome experience”
Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

The Nambiti Hills was amazing !! The staff were fantastic and very helpful, their service and attention to details wonderful. Our game ranger Kingsley alias "the elephant whisperer" gave us a fabulous Big 4 experience ... With some serious but safe animal encounters, unfortunately leopard was the only one of the Big 5 we missed. However the Cheetah breeding farm next to the lodge had a leopard that we could touch.
The food at the lodge was 5 star and every meal was sensational .. The creme brûlée was to die for !
We would highly recommend and will definitely return one day.
Thank you to all at Nambiti Hills Lodge

Friendly and helpful staff make Nambiti a pleasant place to stay .
The 10,000 acre game park is small but interlaced with tracks and small dirt roads .
The first "Game Drive" of the day leaves at 6am , you get back for breakfast ( excellent) at 0830
The day is then yours to catch up on sleep , read books or wander around the complex .
The evening Drive is from 1600 until dark .
Each party is allocated a dining table , guests tend to stay 3-4 nights .
Animals are usually sighted , eg Lions, Elephants ,Buffalo, Serval, Monitor lizard ,Rhino (Black White) Eagles, Warthogs ,Giraffe , Eland, Antelope, Water Buck .
Rooms very comfortable , Hot Water adequate , Dining , rather same menu, good service.
Rangers very able and knowledgable.
We enjoyed it despite variable weather ( Sunshine and showers , Temp from 15C to 30C)

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 night stay at Nambiti. Each of my 4 game drives was an entirely unique experience, with the animals and sights remarkably different. My guide, Greg, was very knowledgeable, and his experience in the bush was quite apparent on our drives. His enthusiasm and fun personality also greatly added to the enjoyment. I also treasured the insights shared by the chief guide, Nicole. The food could not have been better, and I found the staff very helpful. Based on my experience, I would not book a night and expect to tick off a list of animals you need to see over one or two drives. I found each excursion to be unpredictable in an exciting way - lions up close, mating ostriches, cheetah charging past on his way to impala, elephants play- fighting in a pool shared by hippos, and so much more. I was also impressed that the management put the highest priority on maintaining the proper checks and balances to keep the reserve and its inhabitants healthy (rather than overstock predators for the benefits of the tours). Nambiti was a highlight of my trip to South Africa, and I would love to return here some day.

What an amazing time we had at Nambiti Hills. We will never forget this wonderful stay. The room was extremely comfortable, a great bed, bath and shower and welcoming messages from the cleaning staff. The rooms and main lodge are decorated with great eye for detail and style. An understated luxury, welcoming and warm. And so fun you can buy some of the decorations in the shop. We had our game drives with Andre who seems to know everything about animals and is just as enthusiastic during the early morning game drives as during the drive back to the car park or serving drinks. A real asset to the lodge. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Even brought us medicine from town when it was not present at the lodge. If the chef ever writes a cookbook I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The game reserve is stunning and so calm, you hardly see other tourists from the other lodges.

Perhaps not a normal stay - we had booked into the Honeymoon Suite - which is really well decorated, but not well cleaned. Maybe its not used all that much? The game drives were awesome. Andre is a fantastic guide. The food was really good and we ate way too much - but enjoyed every bite. The room was not all that clean. There were left over matches from the previous guest in the ash tray next to the bath.On the second night no matches at all. The blinds had not been dusted in how long and the glass table top was dirty. The welcome mat was missing most of the corners and looking really exhausted. The ice-tray was almost empty and fresh water was never added to the kettle during the stay. Unfortunately due to the low water levels the water was dirty brown which meant we did not want to fill the kettle or ice-tray from the tap. When we went onto the balcony - or outdoor shower - or to front door, we smelt sewage. Admittedly the lodge had run out of water when we arrived so that may have contributed to the problem? Turns out the sewage pipe runs under the Honeymoon Suite balcony. The chandelier light was faulty resulting in the lights tripping on the second night we were there. Much to their credit we received a complementary bottle of champagne for the inconvenience and the electrician managed to get the power working again before we finished dinner. Unfortunately the smell of sewage from the balcony was overpowering so enjoying the evening stars from the balcony was a no no. The lack of care for the accommodation was apparent, but the overall experience was great - just not 5 star and perhaps not worth what we were paying for.

Room Tip: The Honeymoon Suite is fantastic - just wish the staff put in a little more effort to make it worth...

It was our second experience at Nambiti Hills Lodge and again from the facilities to the services, everything was so perfect that we would like to visit again. We could see Leopard and Lions during our stay and we were so excited about that. Highly recommended!

Our experience at Nambiti was something we will treasure forever. From the amazing ambiance, the gracious staff, the abundance of game, the option to visit the Cheetah Conservation Project and the fabulous vegetarian food specially prepared for us .... it certainly exceeded expectations. We stayed only 2 nights and if we return in a year or two I would definitely book at least an extra day, or three!
