“Will be back again”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

We have just finished our 2 week honeymoon of which we spent 3 nights at Esiweni. This was by far the best time we had while on honeymoon. Everything was excellent. Magda and her husband were very welcoming and friendly. Kim's food was delicious and the game drives with Elise were amazing. We saw 2 big lions with 4 cubs, which was the highlight of our drives. Elise is very enthusiastic and knows everything. The honeymoon suite was awesome and I would definately recommend it. We will definately be back again!!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Esiwini, the game drives were great, the food superb and greeted at all times by smiling faces - what a change from the old days at some Parks Board resorts

Room Tip: Ask for one looking out to the waterfall

This was everything we could have wished for, stunning scenery, outstanding game drives and a safari guide Elise whose knowledge of all things"safari" helped to make it an ideal stay. We must also mention the wonderful meals cooked by Kim and her staff, this girl will dfinitely go places.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent , but rooms 4 & 5 have stunning views from their balconies .

So we went back a second time. and It was better than ever. From our safari guide Elise who was incredibly informed on all matters South African, a true wildlife expert, one of the best we experienced in our many African safari trips, to the darling Magda and her husband Natie who made the experience so personable and the wonderful chef and kitchen / bar staff. All contributed to an experience that was every bit as good as the expensive Kruger private game lodges. I would much rather stay in esiweni and get twice the number of nights for the same price,. With fine cuisine, superb accomodation, professional guides, and personal attention, it is excellent value for money. wildlife abounded, beautiful scenery, breakfasts in the bush by the rock pool, it was a truly classy experience. We are now doing something we have rarely done in our annual trip to SA (every year for ten years now, and we have stayed in 25 or more lodges) ...we are returning for a third time to the same place. about to book it online right now. Looking forward to it, the anticipation is part of the experience. Sorry for raving on about it but the excitement knowing we are definitely going back again is overwhelming!

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite and the room nearest to it are superb, we stayed in each over the two trips, hav...

We started our honeymoon in this amazing lodge. At arrival everything is arranged perfectly, bags put in the room while we were entertained with a welcome drink.
The honeymoon suite with bathtub in- and outside of the suite is amazing, the view at the waterfall evenmore fantastic.
Magda and Matie, the managing couple really understand the meaning of holiday.
The gamedrives are fun and educational with Elize as our ranger. Nothing but good words for her!
The food is of very high quality, three course meals prepared by Kim - a master cheff in all she cooks.
We would definitely come back in the future when we get the chance.

Thanks again Magda, Matie, Elize and Kim for the great time!

Cheers Björn and Marjolein

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite overlooks the waterfall, we think the best view available.

Initially I wasn't 100% sure when booking the lodge for me and my parents who were visiting from the UK, however I am so happy that I booked Esiweni - out of 4 game reserves so far, it is my favorite. Stunning views that no-one else has the privilege to see, immaculate rooms, personal friendly service from Magda and her team (who care that you are enjoying the experience) and brilliant game drives from Naartie (please excuse the spelling if it's incorrect). Don't refrain from booking into the lovely Esiweni Lodge, I doubt you will regret it, as I say I will be a repeat customer with my friends who visit from overseas as it is just bliss.

Entertaining an American visitor to the country, I recently booked the honeymoon suite at this lodge to enjoy an 'African safari' adventure. The lodge is set in the most ideal location in Nambiti game reserve, and has beautiful views. The honeymoon suite has its own private deck with an outdoor bath and great views across a gorge and over a river.

Our tour guide, Elize, was enthusiastic, fun and highly knowledgeable - in my opinion the biggest asset to the establishment and really worth waking up at 4:45am to drive with her to view the big 5 and listen to her impart her knowledge and experience of the animals.

We visited during the lodge managers' week off, and unfortunately hotel staff were often not easily found during the day when needed. Another gripe we had was that there is no fridge (or aircon!) in the honeymoon suite - which means one's own champagne/wine cannot be enjoyed from the room and must be left in the main kitchen - a rather high corkage fee was charged for the consumption of these during mealtimes. As accommodating as the kitchen staff appeared to be to one's dietary requirements, as a big eater, I found the included meal portions to be incredibly small (understatement) and left me feeling hungry..

Other than these issues our stay here really was great, and I'm glad we stayed two nights - one night would definitely not be sufficient.
