Wow, what an experience! This place is amazing! Our party of four were treated like royalty, nothing was too much trouble. The suites were fantastic. My husband and I stayed in the Romance suite, which looked out on magnificent views with only the sound of the birds singing and the sounds of animals walking and drinking from the water holes. There are twin indoor and outdoor showers, and twin baths where you can relax and look out at your own private view. My sister and her husband stayed in the Spaza suite. Again this was fantastic! Nolan was our ranger, his knowledge about the Big Five, the birds and the plants was amazing, we have learnt so much, however he did earn the name Pinocchio for some of his bush man stories - very funny! The experience of seeing these wild animals in their wild habitat was breath taking! Nolan made sure that we were warm on the early morning drives with blankets and hot water bottles.
The food was extremely good, my husbands eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw the steak! You will get to meet Mango the Mongoose, very cute!
We would definitely recommend Lions Valley Lodge, an experience not to be missed!

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same just different themed decors.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Lions Valley Lodge. It is difficult to express the truely wonderful experience we had. The staff was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and every request was responded to with a smile. Most of our time was spent with our ranger Nolan, he was entetaining, informative and extremely knowledgeable, we came away with so much that we are eager to share with others, hopefully as enthusiasically as Nolan shared with us. The hot water bottles and wam blankets, prepared by Nolan before his early morning wake up call were very welcome as we borded the Land Cruiser. The animals were incredible, the hippo performed as if on cue by speading their mouths in a threatening manner, we saw giraffe "necking" each other, BFE (big friendly elephant) appeared from nowhere, wow he is big. We saw 4 of the big 5 and learned all about the small 5. You will never go hungry at Lions Valley, the food is 5 star! The rooms are pure luxury - can't wait to go back in the summer and enjoy the jucuzzi! Our welcomming party included Mango the mongoose, be prepared for a leg hug.

Room Tip: All amazing, the decor is different in each suite

Lions Valley Lodge is absolute luxury. Our accommodation was very spacious and glorious! The hosts are very friendly. Game drives were incredible!!! Make sure you dress warm and bring an extra jacket as the early morning drives are usually very cold!!! This has to be my favorite safari experience yet.

Lion Valley Lodge is simply magnificent with an attention to detail like no other. The suites are huge and all with an individual themed decoration of the highest quality.

Nolan, our guide and host for the trip, was superb. His knowledge of the reserve environment made travelling with him in the vehicles a delight. He seemed to know all the best locations, kept up-to-date with the latest animal sightings so we could try and find them ourselves, and produced a great 'sun-downer' every evening ensuring we had a fantastic view of the wonderful landscape. A note to Lions Valley Lodge: don't lose Nolan!

The hospitality from all the staff was second to none and it was clear there was a fairly slick operation going on behind the scenes. At the end of each safari trip we would be greated with hot towels at the front door and a very warm welcome, breakfast. lunch and dinner were superb with uncomplicated proper food. Others take note, people don't want fancy and over complex meals where quality and taste come second to presentation. Lions Valley clearly put taste and quality to the forefront - excellent.

We substituted one of our game drives for a safari walk with Greg (resort manager), a new venture being initiated by Lions Valley which puts a trutly different persepctive on things. You move away from the bumpy vehicles where you can cover large distances in just a few hours to a much more intimate experience. You experience different things that you wouldn't get on a drive such as all the sounds and smells that are on offer. We even spent 30 minutes tracking some White Rhino where we eventually got within 20 metres of them and spent 25 minutes just quietly watching them graze. Greg's knowldege of the wildlife is mind boggling and his ability ti track is uncanny. This was quite possibly the highlight of the trip...but then how do you choose from so many highlights.

Watch out for the pet mongoose called Mango - kids love her!

Our stay at Lions Valley Lodge was the perfect way to kick off our married life. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful stay! The Romance Suite was spectacular and the attention to every detail made us feel like royalty. We were also fortunate enough to have an elephant knocking down trees right in front of our deck, lions at the lodge and various wildlife frequenting the watering hole in front of the pool deck! To the chefs, Richard and Sharon, each meal was delicious and the deserts were a real treat. Charles, you are the perfect host and we are going to miss your cheery greeting and infectious smile. Likewise, Eugene, you were always ready with whatever we needed - sometimes before we even asked! Greg and Adri, we didn't spend much time with you, but it is evident from the warm, family atmosphere and the five star treatment received by your guests that Lions Valley Lodge is managed with care and class. To Wiaan, your cart is definitely the fastest! And lastly, a huge thank you to Nolan - the game drives were absolutely awesome, from the animal spotting to the bird identification...and even the education on droppings. Your passion for wildlife and easy going nature, coupled with a great sense of humour, really made the holiday just perfect!
