A group of us stayed at the Springbok lodge 29th of July to 1st of August . The tents were very comfortable, electric blankets, baths awaiting your return from the game drive in the evening, with candles and flower petals. Loved showering under the stars, with ample hot water.
Game drives were awesome, Mike hosted and drove, his knowledge of the wild life and where to find was first class, and his driving skills when a group of Lions were found one morning, move over Jason Button. We saw Lions every day, and other wild life close up, in natural surroundings and in the mornings the hot water bottles and capes were added bonuses to keep out the chill.
Sunrise hot chocolate, and sundown drinks just added to the experience. Ample food , well presented, at every meal. Any drawbacks just one, not everyone drinks sherry and a carton of orange juice would have been nice, was asked for and declined.

Room Tip: All the tents are first class I stayed in room 2 a little way from the lodge and had a large Hudu de...

My wife and I stayed here for two nights (15 & 16 July 2013) and could not have asked for a better stay. Greg hosted us over the entire three days which involved everything from driving us around the Nambiti reserve both at sunrise and sunset, producing lovely 'sun-downers' in the evening, sharing his superb knowledge of the wildlife whilst adding some great humour to the trips. It was also obvious he was responsible for a lot of the 'behind the scenes' work too such as producing blankets and hot-water bottles for the early morning drives.

Food at Springbok was fantastic with a lovely selection of meats. Attention to detail in the accommodation was also spot on, we even had a hot bubble bath run for us for our return one night. The canvas accommodation (far from tents) gave a real sense of being out in the wild with the occasional sound of animals moving / howling providing a wonderful soundtrack.

For the price this is really is a great place to get up and personal with nature.

Room Tip: I think most rooms are the same and all have wonderful views of the reserve at sunrise. We had room...

We chose the wettest and coldest snap in April to visit Springbok Lodge, the drive there was fraught with anxious moments with strong winds and rain, but once we got there it was all worth while. Fabulous tented accommodation with everything to warm our numb extremities - electric blankets, air conditioning and a flagon of sherry! The food was delicious and the service was extremely attentive. The bush was amazing and despite being restricted in terms of where we could go (due to the heavy rains) we still managed to have some amazing sightings, but the most amazing thing was experiencing a beautiful African sunset while watching a pride of lions with the Drakensberg snow capped mountains in the distance! That night we were treated to a drawn candle lit bubble bath (in the sumptuous free standing bath) with snacks & champagne - what a delight!

Springbok Lodge, set in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in Ladysmith is well worth a visit - I shall certainly be back for another visit!

I was worried about staying at the Springbok Lodge on a cold winter night but I needn't have worried! I was warm enough with the heater and electric blanket on the bed, so warm in fact that I switched both off during the night. The tented accomodation is lovely and comfortable - a perfect bush lodge experience! Great attention to detail - the personalised welcome note on the bed, the complimentary sherry in my tent, complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Best of all was the bath filled with hot water, candles and rose petals waiting for me after a chilly evening game drive, these special little touches were appreciated and enjoyed.

The two game drives per day included in the rate are perfect. The game guides from the lodges in the reserve keep in touch via walkie-talkies and share information on where the wild animals are located. We saw plenty of impala, buck, wildebeest, lion, elephant, rhino, zebra, a lone giraffe, warthog and plenty of vultures.

We were treated to a Boma BBQ, with barbequed kudu steaks (my son said these were better than beef fillet), venison wors (sausage), grilled chicken pieces, home-made beer bread, "mielie pap", the most delicious corn soup ever, bean salad and more! For dessert we had fresh barbequed fruit sticks with malva pudding and custard. We were treated to a surprise "Breakfast in the Bush", a treat for some American guests present at the lodge during our stay. The breakfast buffet was beautifully set up in the African bush - what an amazing treat from the Springbok Lodge staff!! Lunch on the terrace was devine, in the glorious winter sunshine.... we couldn't have wished for more!

Warm atmosphere, friendly staff, upmarket lodge.
We were treated to 2 professional game drives and our rangers were extremely knowledgable, tracking lion on both occasions. We had an elephant encounter with 2 week old babies, that was mind blowing. An excellent touch was a bubble bath waiting for us on our return from our game drive.
Excellent value for money. We would highly recommend this resort and will definitely return for another visit.

We were welcomed at the gate by a giraffe and her week old baby and our time in Nambiti just continued to amaze us. Springbok Lodge is spacious and welcoming. The tents are a unique experience. Warm and cosy with very comfortable beds. Our game drives with Nicole were informative and she went out of her way to ensure we had wonderful experiences. We went to the Kwa Cheetah Project which was a special experience. We all loved the interactions with the animals and learnt so much. Highly recommend everyone visit this, especially they do not receive funding to keep this project going! Spoilt from start to finish at Springbok
