Firstly the garden where we were served was lovely!

The menu was a gastronomic experience - each bite tasting different from the last.
The menu is limited, but dont let that put you off, just go with what the chef has decided to do for the day and you will not be disappointed! Even if it is not something you would normally choose.

We had a delightful experience which was sooo fresh, absolutely West Coast local and included local succulent plants that were edible.

The service was excellent and the chef gives each table personal attention!

You need to book in advance - I cant recommend Oep ve Koep bistro more. we found that the meal was excellent value for moeny.

If you are fussy and in a hurry this is not for you, if you enjoy new culinary experiences made with passion and originality definitely pay Oep ve Koep bistro a visit.

When I saw the "lunch by appointment only" I knew I was in for a treat. Kobus does justice to the local produce and I found myself trying ingredients I would normally shy away from. Pickled whitefish with grapefruit and edible succulent plants he had forraged, home made butter and freshly baked breads, fish steamed in fig leaves... Kobus you are going to go far and we look forward to that first cook book!

It is very rare, that one has the privilege of eating a meal that you know cannot be found anywhere else in the world. I am a newcomer to the West Coast and only now starting to appreciate what is on offer. Kobus does the West Coast justice. His food is Innovative, Seasonal, Fresh and Authentic. Some recipes date back to the 1930's, so very authentic. We could fault nothing and each morsel sang in our mouths. I agree with a previous reviewer, that Oep ve Koep is so far removed from Fish & Chips. The restaurant is tiny and not suitable for walk-ins as the small kitchen can only service about 16 guests max. Therefore, there is only sitting. This enables the Chef to interact with every guest, chat through recipes, wine recommendations, his own experiences etc. We had a great lunch - it was fresh, succulent and full of flavour: Tomato & Rooibos Consomme with Lobster, West Coast Mussels, Cob in Vine Leaves with Veld Spinach and a Dessert to die for. Only visit if you seriously love great food and you have time to savour each delicous morsel.

We visit this establishment often whilst on holiday in Paternoster. It has become our mainstay for breakfasts. Food is very good off a limited menu and service is outstanding from friendly waiters. Booking however essential. Patrons will not be allowed to dine if bookings are not made beforehand so be warned. The accompanying shop is very good for buying souvenirs. No nonsense fare from a young and upcoming chef.

Honestly this was the best food I have ever eaten. Clever without being smart. Simple without being simplistic. Ingredients treated with absolute respect. A chef that lets the produce do the talking. Go on treat yourself!!!!!!!
