“One of a kind”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

It is very rare, that one has the privilege of eating a meal that you know cannot be found anywhere else in the world. I am a newcomer to the West Coast and only now starting to appreciate what is on offer. Kobus does the West Coast justice. His food is Innovative, Seasonal, Fresh and Authentic. Some recipes date back to the 1930's, so very authentic. We could fault nothing and each morsel sang in our mouths. I agree with a previous reviewer, that Oep ve Koep is so far removed from Fish & Chips. The restaurant is tiny and not suitable for walk-ins as the small kitchen can only service about 16 guests max. Therefore, there is only sitting. This enables the Chef to interact with every guest, chat through recipes, wine recommendations, his own experiences etc. We had a great lunch - it was fresh, succulent and full of flavour: Tomato & Rooibos Consomme with Lobster, West Coast Mussels, Cob in Vine Leaves with Veld Spinach and a Dessert to die for. Only visit if you seriously love great food and you have time to savour each delicous morsel.

“Refreshingly different”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

We visit this establishment often whilst on holiday in Paternoster. It has become our mainstay for breakfasts. Food is very good off a limited menu and service is outstanding from friendly waiters. Booking however essential. Patrons will not be allowed to dine if bookings are not made beforehand so be warned. The accompanying shop is very good for buying souvenirs. No nonsense fare from a young and upcoming chef.

“Brilliant”

Honestly this was the best food I have ever eaten. Clever without being smart. Simple without being simplistic. Ingredients treated with absolute respect. A chef that lets the produce do the talking. Go on treat yourself!!!!!!!

“Take your taste buds on holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

Nestled in a cosy garden, this is the place to savor the true delicate flavor of the weskus. Far away from the awful fish and chips, or seafood platter where everything tastes of oil, chef Kobus offers innovative dishes based on traditional west coast cooking and ingredients from the region. Try the watermelon and bokkom salad, or the fresh oysters with apple.

Make sure to book in advance since there are once a few tables.

“West Coast regional cuisine of highest order”

What an experience! Kobus, now waiting for your food book, which is in the pipeline. No wonder those few tables are booked out weeks in advance!
