“Lovely setting”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Overall we'd give this property 3.5 stars if we could. We originally booked one of the Khoisan villas run by Strandloper and while it was beautiful and characterful, once we saw it we realized it wasn't ideal as it wasn't right on the beachfront. So the Strandloper management helped us to change from Khoisan to De Goede Hoop (rental from La Baleine).

De Goede Hoop has an absolutely lovely setting, and although we really enjoyed our short break, we probably wouldn't return. While it was comfortable and high quality, it was a bit under-furnished i.e. rather bare for our taste, so it didn't really have a homely feel about it. That said, we had a great time. (Would strongly recommend the restaurant Gaaitjie.)

The management at Strandloper/La Baleine was very helpful so we'd definitely use this company again.

We stayed for 10 days in Strandloper Ocean Sea Villa Kamakoo 1, and we enjoyed it very much.

Reception at the Strandloper Ocean Boutique hotel was very friendly and we were escorted to our villa and shown around. The villa is located a couple of hundred meters from a big, nice strand.

The double story house was truly inviting with lots of space in both the floors being downstairs the living/dining area with open plan kitchen and upstairs with two bedrooms. The living area has a nice lounge area with sofa and chairs, big dining table and well equipped kitchen with all possible facilities. There is a nice size Samsung flatscreen TV with a hotel package DSTV programs (all you need) and even a DVD player. To round the groundfloor off, there is a big fireplace for the cosy evenings. The two bedrooms are very spacious, with nice beds which could be, for us, a bit wider. But then again, we are both tall and the length of the beds was great. Both the rooms have double basins, a big shower area and seperate toilet, while the master bedroom also has a bath. Both rooms have a balcony. Finally, there is a small garden which is walled, great for people with dogs just like us.There is also a terrace with a braai.

So why almost perfect? The garage of the house is being used as a laundry area for their villas and hotel. This means that people are working there, call it office hours five days a week. And although we didn't hear much of these activities, our two dogs did which made them barking quite often, especially during the first couple of days we spent there.

We sincerely liked the place and if it wasn't for the laundry activities, certainly worth 5 stars.

Paternoster has really become the perfect place for me and my boyfriend to escape the city. Strandloper Sea Villas is definitely our favorite place to be! The staff are very friendly and we always received very good service. The villas are very stylish and equipped with all your needs. The kitchen is very modern with great appliances (even a dishwasher)! There is also a flat screen television and a braai area with sun loungers and only a 2 minute walk away from the beach. As regular visitors we always had a very good experience. We always enjoy the long walks on the beach, beautiful sunsets and most of all the peace-and-quiet feeling! There is a small supermarket and many restaurants just around the corner. Paternoster is really a beautiful place to visit!

Paternoster is a charming small village with a beautiful beach. We stayed at kamakoo villa 1, which has a small garden. We liked the villa, it is comfortable although you don’t have any seaview. But in 10 seconds you are on the beach. Make sure that if you are planning diner at one of the popular restaurants like Gaaitji or The Noisy Oyster you make bookings in advance! The nearby Columbine nature reserve is worth to go, beautiful rocks & Seaview, we went by car and made some nice walks but discovered later that they rent-out mountainbikes at the supermarket in Paternoster which is als a nice way to discover the reserve. The villa is on walking distance from beach, a small supermarket (small assortment, if you like nice cheeses , olives etc you should buy it before you go to Paternoster), restaurants etc. In the morning you can buy great homemade bread at Oep ve koep.

My fiancé, who is in the hospitality industry and runs an online accommodation website, received mistrusting service and false information from the villa booking office. We wanted to book the koisan villa 1 for our honeymoon for 4 nights, and were told by the lady reservationist that the villa will be kept for us to officially book until the end of day. My fiancé liaised with me about the booking and we then agreed to take it within a few hours of speaking with the establishment. We phoned back immediately wanting to book way before end of day. To our dismay she had given it to someone else. How disappointing, we were very shocked at the treatment. Is this the sort of service to expect when booking accommodation?

Paternoster is a charming town, and I loved our Villa at this establishment. We could see the sea from our room, and a two minute walk would get you onto the beach. The Villa had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, lovely kitchen with great appliances and a flat screen television.. You also have a braai area with some sun loungers outside. We had a problem with our fridge, and this was sorted out by the manager as quick as possible. All staff very friendly and everything is spotless in your villa.

We stayed in one of these self-catering cottages with friends. They are beautifully decorated and it was so relaxing. There is a barbecue and table/chair outside to enjoy the weather or eat under the stars on the private patio. With or without the outdoor lights on. One row back from the sea front, but you can still enjoy views of the sea and dunes. The beach is long and makes a lovely walk (or surf!). The beds were comfy and good hot power showers to come home to. Would definitely stay here again!
