I travel frequently around the UK as a consultant of a very large Wholesale operation and get the oppurtunity to stay in some of the finest hotels in the UK. I was very impressed with the Golf Hotel as it met all my business needs combined with the great service provided by the management. The quality of the food was outstanding with a special mention for the head chef who provided 12 of my collagues with a 3 course dinner at such late notice. The main highlight of the Hotel was the 104 Inch LCD TV in the bar which gave me and friends a perfect atompehere to enjoy the IPL Cricket and taste some of the high quality wines on display. The reception can put any 4 star hotel in Central London to shame. I have already booked the Honeymoon Suite for August which comprises of a 8 Foot Round Bed and excellent decor. I would like to say a special thanks to the management for going that extra mile to provide us with a comfortable stay.

We booked a Valentines Special deal and it was everything we'd hoped for.

There were rose petals on the bed and the room was very plush, clean and well furnished.

The bathroom was large with a bath and shower. Shower was easy to use and very good.

Large plasma screen in room with all digi channels.

The food was gorgous my only concern was the lighting was a bit bright in the restaurant and it didnt have a great atmosphere.

The rest of the hotel was modern & plush - just the restaurant & hallways upstairs need redoing.

Would definatly reccommend for a relaxing night away.

Visited the Golf 2 years ago for lunch and like many Olde Worlde places it was looking tired. The reception area, and lounge has been completely refurbished and moderised which may not be in keeping with the history of the building, but there are local alternatives that offer original fixtures and fittings, complete with original cobwebs. The bar area and corriders haven't been refurbished yet, and yes the duck tape is still there on the step, but the room was very modern and comfortable with huge TV. Helpful staff, good food, I'll be back

We have stayed here a number of times before, and we always enjoy our visits. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the rooms are reasonably priced and well appointed.

The room was excellent with a large TV on the wall. My first night I was the only guest, and the service was very good, sitting in the bar with the most enormous TV all to myself was the way to relax after a long journey.
Throughout the food was of a high quality and always hot. All of the staff I met were very welcoming and happy to help at all times.
I would happily stay there again and find some of the other reviews confusing.

The refurbishment of the hotel lobby is completely out of character with the hotel, has isolted the reception staff and makes the hotel most unwelcoming. It also shows up the drab abd tatty appearance of the rest of the public rooms.
