Over two years I've done a few of the craft courses at manor house stables. All have been excellent. This time I treated my friend and I to a day learning how to spin wool. As keen knitters it was great to understand how spinning works and the tutor brought her own wheels and wool. She was very knowledgeable about the craft with many years experience and we learnt a lot about the history. We spent a very enjoyable day with a delicious lunch, including home grown produce. At the end of the day we went home each with a skein of wool and a firm appreciation of the spinners skills. Sherry was welcoming as ever and she also joined us to learn this new skill.
This was my third stay to the Hayloft, The Manor House Stables. This time it was an anniversary treat for my husband. And what a treat. It is just as wonderful as my first visit. Everything one could wish for is provided, and much more. So much thought has gone in to making the Hayloft a wonderful place to stay. And the magic never goes away, no matter how many times I stay.
It is beautifully set out, with so many extras eg. Basket of veg, welcome hamper, milk, butter, wine, sausages, tea, coffee, sugar. And fresh flowers. Nothing is too much trouble for Sherry. It is a simply gorgeous, peaceful place to stay.
We have recently returned from a weekend stay in The Hayloft and were really impressed with it. The cottage is lovely and cosy and the little touches (wine, food hamper, vegetables) made it even more welcoming. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the bathroom was amazing. There's lots to do nearby (Lincoln itself, Tattershall Castle) and the hosts are very friendly. Would definitely recommend!
We had our first weekend away at the Hayloft and it was nothing short of perfect.
The whole place is spacious but cosy, clean, bright, warm and welcoming. The hamper on arrival and first night meal helped us settle in quickly (and the apple crumble lasted us until Monday!). We got great use of of the lovely, well stocked kitchen (and were thrilled at not having to do the washing up - very handy dishwasher!).
The snug was the perfect nap spot and reading hide-away, although our favourite spot had to be in front of the wood-burner (with some tasty local wine and a game of scrabble). As all the other reviews have said, the bathroom is simply magnificent - I definitely lost time in the copper bathtub with twinkly lights overhead! We had a wonderful break from the London noise and left feeling nourished and relaxed.
Sherry and Irvin were great hosts, so friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home with our every need pre-empted. We're now worried that we'll never find anywhere else quite as good - 3 days wasn't enough!
We returned from our Weekend stay in The Hayloft and have already booked our next escape there....can't wait!!
From the minute we opened the door we were comfortable in this home from home- the extra touches make you feel so welcome and we couldn't wait to sample all the delicious goodies.
We had with us our 5 month old son, we had a travel cot and high chair supplied for our use which saved us taking ours- Elliot loved the snug though and reading a story turned into siestas for us all on a daily basis!
The bathroom was the reason we had booked this stay (7th wedding anniversary present from hubby- copper!) The bath was amazing- I didn't realise it was a jacuzzi bath so that was a nice surprise (Elliot loved the bubbles too) but there is also a sauna and the shower is a steam room too- hence total relaxation!!
The double bedroom was very comfortable, ensuite nice and everything you need in there including a very nice light in the rafters that gives the room a lovely glow.
We can't really talk about local amenities as we had everything we needed here so mostly stayed in!- there is a lovely little pub/ restaurant in the next village (The Penny Farthing) we walked there about -30 mins- the food menu looked good but we didn't sample. We had a drive out to Woodhall Spa which is only a few minutes away and there were a few bars/ restaurants including a very funky Italian in the woods- along with a kinema that still has intervals!! :) a nice little village to walk around. We also had a drive to Oslincs ostrich farm where we bought Ostrich, kangaroo and crocodile steaks- great to take back and cook!
Cooking in the Hayloft was as easy as being in your own home, in fact there was probably more equipment then I have at home! including range cooker, blender, slow cooker, microwave etc really was easy to cook up the delicious goodies left including Lincolnshire sausages, fresh vegetables, eggs, bread and lots more treats!!
For entertainment there is a TV, DVD player, stereo as well as a cupboard full of games, books and a good selection of films and music.
Would be great to be here in the summer as there is a little garden with swinging chair and BBQ- looks like a lovely little sun trap!
Thank you so much for making this stay amazing and we cannot wait till we are back! :)
We stayed at The Hayloft with our 5 month old baby for a long weekend of relaxation..... And how relaxed are we after our stay!
The living room, bedroom, bathroom and snug are just as wonderful as they look in all the pictures!!
We also didn't realise that the shower was also a steam room which just added to our relaxation after jacuzzi bath & sauna! Amazing!!
Not only are you welcomed with a lovely garden trug full of fresh fruit & veg, there are also more surprises waiting in the fridge- sausages, eggs, milk, butter etc all necessaries!
We stoked up the fire, cooked delicious food and stayed in at night to enjoy the place- locally we found the walk to nearby village Timberland really nice (& the penny farthing pub really welcoming), woodhall spa which is about 5 minute drive away is also nice with a few restaurants and bars, kinema & restaurant in the woods both looked like great places to go but didn't get chance this time!
Can't wait for our next visit (in fact have already booked!!)
We recently returned from our stay in the Hayloft and can happily say it exceeded our already high expectations. I was looking to find somewhere to stay for a 3 night break to celebrate my 30th birthday with my partner. Being mid February I wanted somewhere warm and cosy where we could relax, the Hayloft fitted the bill perfectly. We soon mastered lighting the log fire, and the kitchen was more than well equipped for cooking tasty meals with the delicious local produce provided. It was such a pleasure that I even did some baking while we were there. The copper bath was as amazing as it looks and even more of a delight with the twinkling lights overhead. I also enjoyed relaxing with a book in the box bed. It has such a delightful cosy atmosphere, and made for a very welcome, restful break. The attention to detail is clear throughout, as well as the hard work and consideration Sherry and her husband have put into getting things just right, there is something very special about this place and our time there will not soon be forgotten. We very much look forward to returning again for another visit in the not too distant future.
