“The best place we have ever been.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

La Palazzetta del Vescovo didn’t steel its name. It is a real palace in Italy, but with the warmth and hospitality of your own house. We already stayed 4 times with Paola and Stefano and even the first time we visited them, it felt like we knew them already for a very long period. We felt welcome as if we were family. That’s the reason why we returned several times and why we will return again this year.

We don’t understand that someone can experience being not welcome at La Palazzetta. For Paola and Stefano no effort is too much. When I asked them last year if I could come in November to ask my girlfriend to marry me, they even kept, especially for us, the hotel open for a longer period and made a special and delicious surprise the evening I asked her. It is just an example of all the efforts that the owners do for their guests.

For this reason we also decided to marry in La Palazzetta del Vescovo in June 2014. We want to show our friends and family this magnificent gem in Italy and to share the fantastic ‘Palazzetta experience’. This means: delicious food, magnificent rooms, a spectacular view and the service of a top hotel in a very personal way. I want to thank Paola and Stefano for all the efforts they already did for us to make it the perfect day!

Finally we are sure our friends will not complain about the distance to the different places of interest en cities in the neighbourhood. In the different years we eacht time visited new things and it took us at maximum one hour by car. In a country like Italy this is really not long!

I can only conclude that this place is worth a detour to visit it!

We've visited La Palazzetta del Vescovo for several times, and everytime again, staying there with the heartwarming owners Paola and Stefano feels like coming home. We fell in love with the place.

Therefore, the review mentioned below seems very surprising to us. We experienced the opposite. Paola and Stefano make you feel very welcome and do all the possible things to make your stay unique and unforgettable. They are always willing to help you finding the most beautiful places in Umbria. Every year again, we discover new places. After visiting all those nice places, you come home and can relax at the pool with a breathtaking view and a little drink. We always take the dinner at La Palazzetta. We would definitely recommend it. Paola makes delicious meals and Stefano takes his time to share his knowledge to find a perfect wine. After all this, you can fall asleep in your magnificent room.

Thank you a lot, Paola and Stefano, for all those beautiful moments!

This is a really wonderful place, tucked away in an accessible, but not overly touristy, area in Umbria. Paula and Stefano are really wonderful hosts - friendly, proud, funny, knowledgable and incredibly accommodating. The grounds are impeccable, with a view from the hilltop that rivals any we've seen in Tuscany or Umbria, or anywhere in Italy, for that matter . We had absolutely no complaints - we have just one comment, which might be more of a subjective thing. That is, they run this tiny little B&B as more of a hotel, and less of a B&B - again, it's not a complaint - but if you're looking for a place where you can go to local markets, buy some wine and cheese, bring it back to your room or the grounds and have a snack, this isn't the place for you. Rather, the hosts prefer to keep everything in-house and slightly less casual. If you want snacks, or to sample from an excellent wine list, Stefano and Paula are both available pretty much all day long to provide you with whatever you need. It's just something to be aware of. Other than that, this place stands out among many beautiful places in the area - the dinners by Paula are fantastic, Stefano is a terrific sommelier who knows local wines and helps avoid the overpriced, touristy wine selections and it's just a great place to relax and soak in the Umbrian hilltowns. HIGHLY recommended.

Room Tip: It seems that all of the rooms are great. We stayed in Vescovo room, which we loved.

This was our first time at La Palazzetta and we spent 3 nights there in the summer of 2012. We had seen all of the amazing reviews on trip advisor so we were expecting great things but we couldn't have imagined how perfect it really was. Paula and Stefano were lovely hosts, the food and wine were incredible and we couldn't have been made to feel any more welcome. The property is beautiful and the pool area stunning. Every night at dinner Stefano listened to what we liked in wine and matched our tastes perfectly with what was in his cellar. Paula seemed to magic the most beautiful and tasty food out of the simplest of ingredients - some of the best food we had in our whole time in Italy. We are definitely going to return at some point as it was the highlight of our trip.

This was our 4th trip to La Palazzetta and it gets better each time. The views are wonderful and the location is ideal for visits to the many traditional Umbrian hilltop towns and villages. The accommodation provided is of the highest standard and extremely comfortable; just like home!
Then you have Paola and Stefano who really make your stay feel special. They are open, friendly and compliment each other superbly. Stefano will greet you with his terrific sense of humour, knowledge of all things local and guide you with the local wines. Paola will gently add to the local knowledge and produce some wonderful meals in the evenings which just keep getting better. La Palazzetta really is a gem and we are looking forward to our 5th visit in June 2013.

Third trip to Italy and have stayed in some lovely places, but La Palazzetta is by far the best! It has it all... ambiance, view, comfort, and fabulous hosts. Paulo prepared gorgeous meals every night and Stefano was warm and attentive. By the way, Stefano's wine pairings were perfect! Would love to go back, and definitely I would highly recommend.

We really fell in love with the Palazzetta del Vescovo. Paola, Stefano and their team are very hospitable and make your stay to a unique experience. The rooms are spacious, very clean and beautiful decorated; the food is outstanding. Umbrië has a lot of beautiful places to discover. From Belgium we had a direct flight to Perugia, which is by car only 30 minutes to the Palazzetta. We would higly recommend to spend some holidays with these nice people in this excellent place. We'll definitely go back!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent!
