I have sailed with Penny Graham and her crew 8 times now...and have never been disappointed!! I have had the priviledge of seeing Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, Fin Whales, the Endangered North Atlantic Right Whale (a mother and calf) and White Sided Dolphins! On my last two trips with Mariner Cruises, this past weekend, I witnessed for the first time...a Humpback Whale breach!! Simply takes your breath away! We also had the pleasure of watching a baby Humpback play right beside our boat!! On our second trip out...we witnessed a triple breach!!!
The weather doesn't always cooperate...but Penny and her crew, which include Captain Chris Titus, don't give up easily.....if there are whales to be watched, they will find them!!! In total, over the two trips this past weekend into the Bay of Fundy...we saw somewhere in the vicinity of 15 - 20 whales!!!! The hospitality, knowledge and overall experience of sailing with Mariner Cruises is something I believe everyone should experience in their lifetime at least once!! I know I'm hooked!!!

This was my first trip to Briar Island, and Mariner Tours with Penny Graham came highly recommended. Penny and her team did not did not disappoint! The crew were so warm and professional, running through the safety information before we left port and ensuring that everyone understood the importance of the natural environment. I was especially impressed with their commitment to endangered species and their extensive level of knowledge. Penny made you feel like you were partners in supporting the safety of these wonderful creatures!

The day was one of those wonderful foggy days that are filled with mystery and anticipation - maybe a little too foggy for whale watching, but so much of the adventure was in the "hunting" for whales. Penny had cautioned us about the limitations of finding whales in the fog, and how they would go about locating them through listening for "blows". We spent all afternoon on the water, and saw birds, dolphins and finally, the elusive whales! It took quite a while, but Penny and her crew really demonstrated their expertise in tracking the whales and understanding the weather conditions. The fog lifted revealing a beautiful afternoon and Penny and her team brought us alongside a pod that was clearly interested in performing. It was absolutely magical!

One of the things that really impressed me was the fact that Penny and her team did not rush to get back to shore even though it took a little longer than anticipated to find the whales. They were committed to ensuring a fantastic trip for everyone and seeing the whales was a key part. Their hospitality and caring really made sure we had a wonderful time - right down to the hot chocolate and cookie!! They are top notch all the way and I will definitely be back! Highly recommend them for a wonderful experience.

Everything about this experience was perfect!!! I just can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this and we will definitely be returning! Everything was so organized and well run. The boat was easy to get to, and easy to get on. It was extremely clean and we had comfortable benches to sit on. We had perfect weather that day and saw lots and lots of whales....very close and very beautiful. Lots of opportunity to take great pictures. The crew was helpful and knowledgeable and very friendly. Even the woman working in the office was so friendly and helpful. The crew was respectful of the whales and the other boats and were very conscientious to not overcrowd the whales. You can tell they love the whales and are as excited to see them as we were. We also enjoyed touring Brier Island. Will definitely return!

Friends recommended Mariner Cruises to us when we told them that we wanted to take a whale watching trip - from St John, NB! They persuaded us to drive from Glen Margaret near Halifax to Westport instead...we owe them!
From the outset Peggy and her family make every guest feel a part of the family; not a customer.
I think Peggy has an arrangement with the whales; when found two different groups of 3 Humpbacks literally socialized with us spectators, which caused one fellow passenger to comment "are we watching the whales, or are they watching us?" Peggy and her daughter provided commentary on the whales and showed us interesting whale information. A really lovely touch just prior to returning to port saw the Grahams serve cookies and hot drinks.
A far better experience than our whale watching cruise in Hawaii some years ago. Oh! And...our round trip was over 600 km - we also stayed at Peggy's Guest House (separate review).
We would certainly return and add our recommendation to that of our friends.
