“Average Food, Slow Service”

Came because rated #1, wish I hadn't, long wait to order, longer wait to pay, too busy flirting with locals to attend our party.

“We came upon this lovely place by chance.”
Reviewed July 3, 2014 via mobile

Having just arrived to Frankfurt airport and traveling west, our group of four let Samantha, our GPS personality, choose where we to stop for lunch. She could not have made a better selection. Since it was late for lunch and too early for dinner we dined from a limited carte. But everything was delicious! Hot krensuppe with a mysterious spiced oil followed by our first sampling of Veiner Schnitzel, yum. With our thirst quenched by a local Riesling the meal was complete.

“A culinary experience”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

The setting is lovely,if for,al and stiff. The service is attentive, if a bit obsequious. The food, however, makes up for all. It is awesome. The wines match the food perfectly. I would not stay in the hotel, but if you are in the area and want to indulge Ina truly amazing dining experience, the this is the place.

“Johan's culinary paradise”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Yes maybe mr. Lafer is not that much in the Stromburg anymore. But the le Val d'or and the bistro are this very high level. Book a nice room in the Stromburg and enjoy great wines from the Nahe. For sure the JL culinary paradise worth a trip even from Praha.

“Worth the trip all the way from Brazil!”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

State of the Art. That's what comes to mind when I think about this place.
After an 11h flight from Brazil and a 1:30h drive from Frankfurt, we arrived at Lafer's in Stromburg.

The ambiance is chic but not intimidating. The service is super-friendly and very well trained (in total, 5 languages were spoken that night). The wine selection is formidable. And the food... is simply brilliant!
Here's the statistics:
- 9 people
- 6 courses for the ladies and 8 for the gentlemen
- 11 different varieties of liquor (starting with champagne and closing with grappa)
- countless pralinés (one of Lafer's specialties, a treat for the eye and the mouth)
- total time: 4h30min

This is a off-the beaten track place that's certainly worth it!
