“Nice, friendly and OK”
Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

It is almost impossible not to eat well in Italy, especially in Piemonte. However, there are differences, particularly in Cherasco. This is a good restaurant, but not among the best. For the money we paid the food was OK, the portions were quite big and the service was very friendly. The food was served extremely fast, with almost no time between the individual courses. The taste was good, and there was generally nothing wrong, but it lacked the last "kick" to say it was an experience to remember - but perhaps we are by now spoiled by too many extremely good experiences we had in the Piemonte region.
If you are hungry and you want a quick, good meal, this a nice place to go.

“Charming historic tavern in Cherasco”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

In Cherasco we previously targeted to go to La Torre Restaurant, but once we noticed the for sale on the window we decided to go elsewhere. We entered the Osteria for an understated lunch but it ended up being a big treat. The entrance looks a bit old fashioned but inside the decor and setting is very refined. Indeed we had not booked and the three of us were placed at a lovely round table in the corner. We had the Piedmont speciality .... raw meat ..... stracciatella soup, then mains, desserts (a fabulous zabaglione), a bottle of wine, mineral water, coffee and petit fours, all of less than 70 Euro. Before leaving we were offered a grappa as well! Apart of this, the restaurant is run by a family and includes a young chef whilst the mother switches between the kitchen and the dining room, and the father between the dining room and the bar. Next to the Osteria there are another couple of historic shops under the portico, which made this day trip very enjoyable.
