“Great hotel and restaurant in beautiful area”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

We went here to visit the car factories, and are very happy we stayed here. This is a beautiful area of Italy, the nearby towns (like Modena) are great, and it is close to the Ferrari or Lamborghini factories. This is a great small hotel in a very small town, and the owner is extremely helpful - for a very small commission he booked us the Ferrari museum, factory tour, and Ferrari rental...and Lamborghini tour. The Lamborghini tour is excellent and highly recommended, as you get to walk around in the actual factory during production. The hotel restaurant is outstanding. We highly recommend booking a dinner there during your stay - in an area of outstanding food, this is really outstanding and worth doing. Overally, if we were going back to the area we would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend the whole experience. The ownders work very hard to make this an exceptional experience.

Our October week long stay at Locanda Del Feudo in Castelvetro near Modena was a very special treat, the very warm welcome from attentive and sensitive proprietors made our holiday very relaxing and completely enjoyable.
The Locanda is a beautiful and lovingly restored building - historic detail and period furnishings throughout - set in the centre of this old historic town. The suites of beautiful rooms named after flowers, are spacious, clean, romantic and charming, with our every need catered for.
The food and wine here is fantastic, outstanding, very very special! using fresh local produce and knowledge.
The location is ideal for visits to Bologna, Modena and other cities of Emilia Romagna, but also for lovers of nature, wild flowers and walking, having beautiful surroundings and views in the nearby hills and mountains of the Appenines. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Locanda del Feudo has suites of rooms we enjoyed the top floor Magnolia rooms, which include sitting...

From the moment we arrived, Andrea and Roberto took great care of our group. The rooms are large and comfortable. The village is charming. But the best feature was the fantastic food. Unforgettable meals using very local ingredients. Will definitely be back

If you are going to stay around Modena or Moranello this must be your choice! Castelvetro is not the place you would include in your must see list, but to go there for an evening will diversify your experience and add some colors! Feudo is the place to stay. Old historical building, nice atmosphere, very clean rooms. Staff is really nice and friendly - if you even come for a single night, they try their best to make your stay comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant that was recomended as a good one, though we did not try - it does not work on Sunday eve. All declared features like free parking and fee wifi were in place.

We stayed at Locanda Del Feudo in the summer of 2009 with our teen daughters. (My daughter asked recently about going back & I realized I'd not written a review...so sorry this is delayed!). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were warmly welcomed by Andrea, and both Andrea & Roberto went out of their way to accommodate us (directions, things to see & do, food requests). It was the perfect base to explore the food (parmesan cheese, vinegar, oil, fresh produce) and cars (Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc). The room was spacious & clean, and bag of toiletries an unexpected extra. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was exceptional- - we still talk about it. Roberto spoke with us us about the food...where it was from, what made it unique, how it was prepared. The whole stay felt very customized and personal. We really felt that we got to know the area and what makes it special. They are great ambassadors for Emilia-Romagna!

We chose the hotel because of the reviews in Tripadvisor and on booking.com, but were slightly disappointed. On the plus side: The town is lovely, the little hotel is a cute old townhouse, the rooms are quite big, the owners are charming and trying hard. But there are drawbacks like the limited English of the owners, the small bathrooms with an even smaller shower cubicle, no a/c in bedroom (only in lounge area of room), very bad lighting (cannot properly read in bed), furniture in general and taps/fittings in bathroom looking slightly tatty, reception not manned 24/7.
Breakfast is typically Italian (lots of pastries), but you can ask for eggs, cheese, etc. We did not try the restaurant.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to people looking more for charme than overall comfort.

Room Tip: Please be aware of very charming location in the middle of town. If you want to sleep with open wind...
