A medieval castle of the Teutonic Knights located in Poland's stunningly beautiful Masurian Lake District was saved from ruin and gave a new lease on life to the quaint town of Ryn when six years ago - after extensive renovation - it was resurrected as a hotel and conference center. We stayed in August 2012 for 11 nights with our grand-daughters (13 and 7) - and kids of that age are not easy to keep entertained and interested. Yet Ryn to them was a delight to them : they wolfed down the diverse and tasty food, worked off the calories in the gym, the indoor archery range and the unique swimming pool in the castle dungeons (a knockout!). But the greatest hit of our stay was the Knights' Feast in the roofed courtyard of the castle - with all the guests dressed-up in colorful period costumes. We paid (at the same rate) for two doubles - which, surprisingly, were quite different: the girl's room was smallish, with frankly too little space to accomodate two lively youngsters; the gransparents' room, on the other hand, was in reality a spacious two room suite. Staff are friendly and helpful. A great place for families with kids - they will be awed by atmosphere and likely to keep involved in the various activities offered, allowing parents (or grandparents) to relax and enjoy.

Room Tip: Standard (low rate) doubles can differ dramatically in size (without difference in price); ask for r...

Me and my family stayed in this hotel during a trip through the baltic countries and Poland. This is the best hotel we stayed at. The hotel is a converted teutonic fortress, which obviously goes down well if you are traveling with two small boys. The hotel has a number of activities inclusing a bowling alley and underground swimmingpool which is really nice. The restaurant is also very good, as is the breakfirst. The only thing that is a bit tricky is the location, which requires a GPS unless you have travelled in this area before or like asking for directions.

Wonderful idea of adapting the hotel in the old castlle. A lot of money was invested in it. But after 5 years from the opening we found bathroom in the room little devastated. Unfortunatelly the pool, which is perfectly located in the cellar seem to be uncleaned enough. The worst is with the sauna, small, devastated and with no shower when you came out, horrible. Over all still impressive. You can also find very last minute 50% off, which is a good value.

Room Tip: Check shower equipment, choose upper floor with the view on lake

Looking for something extraordinary - you have it in Ryn. Perfect location for yachting, cycling, walking, in the middle of Mazurian 1000s lakes district. Excellent natural environment with forests and lakes. Good overnight accomodations, good Polish cusine. Really recommended.

Nice place for couples who want to spend romantic time. We have a nice, quite specious room with courtyard view. The only one minus was lack of air condition in the room (hot July). The hotel has a cosy pool with facilities made in kind of antic style. Good place for those who wants to stroll around the colse located lakes.

I stayed in that hotel for one night. It's defineatly 4 star hotel (amenities: small shop, spa, journeys trough castel). I appreciate carefullness in renovation this old castle but for me hotel is dark and dull. There is no any room or space for smokers. During the breakfest I asked for sausage (the container was empty) but I didn't get. Parking is free of charge.
