Annapurna Hotel Tenerife
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Las Galletas
Reviewed January 8, 2014

Stayed 2 weeks over xmas & new year. A good value hotel which I'd return to.

Plus points:
Very clean
Friendly helpful staff
Good size appartment
Excellent value for money
Terrific pool & plenty of sunbeds/parasols
Comfortable beds & pillows
Powerful shower
Bar service quick & huge measures

Food is as I'd expect from a 3* A/I
lots of choice at breakfast, cereals, cold meats, bread selection, yogs, full english ( bacon quite "chewy" & sausages taste of nothing but always 2/3 types of eggs, beans, cooked potato)
Lunch: nice salad bar, soup, meat & fish dishes & often pasta, veg or rice & chips
Afternoon snack: cold meats, salad, breads, cakes
Dinner: Salads, cheese, soup, meat/fish/pasta dishes, veg or rice & chips

Perfectly acceptable food but could be improved with more variety in soups (many days was cream of veg which got repetitive) also a 3rd meat/fish choice would be welcomed. Having said that, you can easily find something different to eat each day if you are not too limited in your food likes.
Special meal was put on xmas eve & new year eve.

Entertainment prog all day; archery, darts, boules, board games, water aerobics etc
Evening prog: some shows ok but avoid the bingo.....it goes on forever...(I'm not a bingo fan anywhere) Reptile show was just an expensive photo selling opportunity & we learnt nothing about the creatures on display, the guys putting "show" on were quite pushy & I thought unpleasant & most insistent you could not take own photos.
Other acts were ok, just nice to have something going on every eve & if you don't want to watch you can sit at other end of bar or outside in the warm evenings.

Local area is a Spanish village which to me is so much nicer that the concrete jungle which Playa has become, shops/restaurants nearby. Frequent bus outside to Playa, Los Christianos etc.
Recommend "la Changa" mexican restaurant at harbour, lovely food (share meal between 2 bacause portions are HUGE) "Euro" cafe on seafront promenade terrific with low prices (best Barriquito we found & tapas great) "Vitaminas" in village, does a very nice breakfast (my son kept going back again & again)

Excursions: Teide all day, you see a lot of the island & great value
Catamaran on xmas day......what can I say but WOW, whales, dolphins, turtles & very entertaining guide. Open bar & lunch. Excellent value
Loro parque: not to be missed, amazing shows
La Gomera: Really like stepping back in time to what Canaries were before tourism. Beautiful island with many surprises. (shop around for prices, we paid 45E inc ferry/tour/lunch)

would I go back to Alborada? Yes It's great value for money we paid

ps: for those people who can't find cutlery etc, it's in drawers of dining table.

I would not go to this hotel or location again, hotel itself was nice once inside and the pool was lovely. The food was awful and the flies in the restaurant nearly drove us mad. We did not eat much of the food as we could not distinguish what it was. Christmas passed by unrecognised by the hotel (except for a small tree on every table). The coffee smelt of fish (as did the whole restaurant) but the coffee from behind the bar which tasted nice was not included in all inclusive. The bar area is not big enough for the hotel & the entertainment was not worth watching (the bingo took forever in about 12 languages so we gave up). The area is run down and uncared for which is a shame as Las Galletas and the harbour area is lovely.

Room Tip: Try another hotel!

Appalling staff in kids club lost my 4 year old child for at least half an hour but likely an hour or longer. I was advised by others that children are left with older kids whilst she went out for a cigarette, on her phone or for a chat with staff !!! When I complained to the manager he seemed uninterested and said he would look into the matter...perhaps he has a psychic gift as he took no details of my name, room number etc
The food is appalling...EVEN THE COCKROACHES HAVE LEFT!!! Very little choice of hot food and either undercooked or meat that is burnt on outside and raw in middle or so overcooked that tastes of nothing with texture of shoe leather. This has been the ONLY hotel I have ever stayed where there is a microwave oven for you to REHEAT YOUR DINNER !!! 10 days of salad meant that we decided to eat out.
Linen was NOT changed at all in the 10 days.
The only plus for this hotel is that the rooms are suitable for self catering although you may need to acquire cutlery as we had none!!!

Room Tip: choose one in a different hotel

In short: If you don’t need to spend every night past 11pm at Playa de las Americas and are on a budget – this is the best value on Tenerife (probably) with a very nice all-inclusive.

Longer: The hotel is located about 25 minutes bus (#467) drive from Los Christianos and 35 from Las Americas. Ride one way is 1.20 eur (Titsa Bono card) and stops outside hotel. It has a very very nice large ocean-water pool with depth 0,5-1.8m and plenty of sunbeds around it.

Rooms (it seems all of them) are about 60m2 with a balcony overlooking the sea, kitchenette with basic supplies, bathtub, safe, flat-screen TV (a couple of UK/IT/FR/DE channels, mostly ES though). Cleaning happens 5 days a week and towels get changed every few days.

All-inclusive will get you (for 10-15 eur/day):
 a nice breakfast 7.30-10am (eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, cheese, ham, various cereals, dairy stuff, tea, coffee, juice)
 decent lunch 1-3pm (salads, olives, pasta, fries, soup, fish + meat/chicken, deserts, icecream)
 good snack-break (ham/chorizo, cheese, bread, vegetables for your sandwich, deserts)
 dinner on same level as lunch
 complimentary drinks during meals and by the pool bar (10am-11pm)
 self-catered: pepsi, pepsi light, 7 up, shweppes, juices, tea, coffee, tap-beer, tap red/white wine
 from barman: light/dark rum, cava, vodka, sangria and other local spirits

The area is much less busy than Las Americas, but you will still have several mid-sized supermarkets with all you need (except fresh fish), beauty salons, laundry, ATM, pharmacy, souvenir shops, bars etc. No clubs (quiet after 10pm) or huge shopping areas though. There are also a couple travel agencies and clothing stores.

The best thing there (even better than AI) is the tiny hidden beach, which allows you to swim across an area full of different colorful fishes and, if lucky, occasional squid, octopus or even sea turtle. No Red Sea, but worth taking your snorkeling mask (or getting one for 15 eur in the shop outside hotel).

Room Tip: Bring your own beach towel or buy one in the smaller shops in Las Galletas (5-10 eur) Try to get a...

Don't listen to bad reviews a hotel as long as it's clean and it was and food yeah wasn't fantastic but would never starve there's always something to eat self service for beer wine pop coffee tea ect so never no queues
Had no problem with staff all very helpful
Rooms were very spacious and clean
Never a problem getting a bed round the pool neither
Resort is a bit dated but don't let that put you off and hotel is like a concrete block from outside but very nice once in
Not a great deal to do in resort but only 1.45 euro on bus to Los cristianas and bus stop just outside hotel
Please drop me a email if anymore info needed on this resort or hotel

Having just stayed in the Alborada beach club over Christmas here is a hotel that has potential that seems unfullfilled. The outside is rather stark being a concrete block, however the internal areas are clean and spacious. The rooms we had were clean reasonably well equiped if a little dated. The complex has good facilities and are kept clean but the area that disappointed the most was the food which although edible was bland and lacking in choice. Its almost as if their desire to cater for all tastes have left them with nothing that appeals in general. The complex has the potential to be better it just needs a little tlc and better menu planning.

Room Tip: Would make a reasonable base if only for self catering
