We had a great experience here. We were booked for 2 but only stayed for 1 due to a change in other plans but this request was managed really well. A great setting for a relaxing break with anise pool and leisure centre. A special building if you like old style. Fantastic breakfast with great service from friendly staff. Not quite a 5 star rating but very close to it.

We had an amazing stay at Cameron House over Christmas. Our room was beautiful and the view of the Loch stunning. Katie Hislop and her team organised everything perfectly with some extra touches as it was our honeymoon. A perfect place to relax and unwind.

We have just returned from an amazing 5 day stay at Cameron House. The location, accommodation, dinning, staff and hospitality were all exceptional. The Christmas decorations combined with the history of the location created a special Christmas experience. A simple 25 minute drive from the airport and being welcomed by a fully dressed Scottish piper instantly set the tone for the stay. A wide selection of eateries from the relaxed atmosphere of the boat house to the Michelin star service at the Martin Wilshaw restaurant provide a great balance for all family types. One day we hit the spa and the other day we were on the golf course. An active but restful trip. Can't wait to go back! Recommendation; stay in the old traditional rooms.

Although the food and Carrick Spa was lovely, the service left a lot to be desired at Cameron House. Twenty minutes sat at the bar waiting to be served in an almost empty room. The next day no space to sit and relax, except in a very busy bar. The drawing room we were promised was available, was reserved for afternoon tea from 11am through to past 7pm.

The food we ordered in the Great Scots Bar took forty minutes to arrive and then another twenty minutes before the cutlery arrived. By that point my husband had eaten his fish and chips with his fingers.

We ended up ordering bottles of wine as it took so long to be served but had two seperate waiters trying to remove the bottle long before it had been finished. We had to chase them to bring the bottle back!

Breakfast meant a fifteen minute wait to be seated and then a further twenty minute wait for tea and toast. We ordered breakfast from the kitchen and that came and we had finished eating before the tea and toast came,

Cameron House was nice but very overpriced for the level of service we received. We were very disappointed with the three day stay we had with Cameron House.

Stayed 2 nights, and with thanks to the wonderful resort team, got engaged on the first day. The hotel and grounds are really grand, and very well maintained, nothing felt tired, but well looked after old charm. No request was too big, the only hiccups were that some requests (champange in the room) weren't carried out at first, but were sorted out perfectly after reminding them.

Little touches like a welcome note and chocolates were great, the room itself (chambre unique, loch view) was lovely, lots of ameneties made the stay even more interesting despite the dissapointing weather at times. The one single criticism I have about the room was the bed, it was 2 singles pushed together and the mattresses were quite different, one felt more worn out, and the gap was noticeable. Temperature was perfect and easily controllable with the climate system. Breakfast and room service was excellent also.

The restaurants were faultless, the one big let down was the Great Scots Bar, despite the lovely surroundings and promising description, the bar staff seemed very inexperienced, they were all referring to writted recipes of cocktails and looked really confused. A few of the staff were very vocal in their confusion "what goes in this?...just mix it all up it will taste fine", which was a bit off putting to say the least.

The Loch cruise was also excellent, with very friendly staff and a nice relaxing ride. Just make sure you go prepared for the rapidly changing weather.

If somehow you get bored at the hotel, and fancy some retail therapy there's a modern shopping area about 20 minutes walk away (Lomond Shores) which caters for many budgets, and houses an aquatic centre which looked great for kids.

Room Tip: It's a big hotel, be prepared to walk quite a distance for some rooms.

My partner and I have had many stays at Cameron House over the years which have been fine but the recent visit was the most disappointing. On previous visits the main issue seems to have been a very long queue to wait for breakfast and I think they have tried to tackle this problem.

For our most recent at the end of December visit we paid £339 a night for a junior suite room. We stayed two nights in total. We arrived late in the evening about 10pm. When we went to the room I checked the bathroom and it was not clean. There were hairs in bath, the floor and walls. We contacted reception and they quickly sent up someone to clean it. But that's not really the point. For the money I paid I would have at least expected a clean bathroom. It makes you wonder what else is not clean. There was also a bad smell in the bathroom and I think they have problems with their drains. When we stayed on the same floor on a previous visit the bad smell was also there. The grounds of the hotel get flooded in the winter months and I think this may contribute to the smell problem.

I am now quite reluctant to visit the hotel again. I agree that it is definitely not 5* and Cameron House has a lot to do if it wants to compete with Gleneagles.

This was again a last minute booking (4pm on day of arrival) as we couldn't get a hotel in Glasgow so it possibly felt a bit pricey for the length of stay as we had to be at an event in Glasgow for 11am the next day. I booked over the phone and tried to make a restaurant booking at the time of the call, however everything was completely booked. Beautiful location and you begin to soak up the atmosphere immediately on arrival. We went straight to the pool, and it had gorgeous views over the loch, everything was clean and the pool a lovely temperature. We enjoyed a quick drink in the bar, it's ashame it was dark by this point as it is well placed to enjoy the vista up the loch. The bar was quite atmospheric and enjoyable.
We could have taken the complimentary transport up to the Claret Jug at The Carrick but chose to have room service instead. The food was exceptional, delicious and fun for our 5year old. They had however not put a pop up bed in the room. Nice room overlooking the garden.
We will visit again when we can spend more time there and perhaps take a trip on the sea plane which we watched taking off in the morning.
Breakfast was lovely, good service despite being busy. By the time we left the queue was about 15 deep waiting for tables, so I would recommend getting there early.
Wasnt a long enough stay, cant wait to return.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a loch view room.
