“This place was truely amazing...Best location on the Island”

Dear Hinano, John, Mary, Claire and of course Kiya and Lily,

We had the most wonderul holiday staying in your Villa. You both have done a wonderful job to create such a truly special place. The location was as you said on your website..."Absolute Beach Front", it was amazing laying in bed and being able to see the ocean...FANTASTIC. You guys were so helpful in helping us get settled and even lending us your work ute to go and get supplies on the first day and then dropping us off to pick up our hire car that you guys had organised for us, we appreciated this so much. The Cafe that you guys have created across the road from the Villa is a credit to you. It is so nice to walk through and see all the different trees and flowers, some of them are breathtaking, you guys have done a marvelous job. Oh and don't let me forget to mention that fabulous Cheesecake, anyone going to the Gardens it is a must have.......Yummo!!!!! Claire and Mary who work in the Cafe are lovely girls and so helpful. Mary did a fabulous job of cleaning out the Villa every 4th day, thankyou Mary.
I would recommend anyone thinking of staying at Heliconia to do yourself a favour and get there as soon as you can, the photos on the website do not do it justice, it is the most beautiful location and the best beach on the Island. Seeing the whales everyday swimming and showing off right in front of us, it is breathtaking. If at anytime you are in need of something Hinano and John are there for you, nothing is too much trouble.

A must is to have a massage on the front deck of the Villa, it was the best massage we have ever had, make sure to ask Hinano or John to book Inano to do the massage, thanks Inano. The snorkelling straight in front of the Villa is great , all snorkelling equipment is supplied for you. You can swim at any tide and there is also a kayak for you to use as well, everything has been thought of.

Thankyou Hinano and John for a most fantastic holiday, we will keep in touch and don't you worry (neighbours) you will see our smiling faces back there before you know it.

Michelle and Jeff (Melbourne, Australia)

We loved this place, so much so that we've just got back home today (leaving Raro on the 5.30am flight - groan) and I'm already on here writing up a review to tell you just how AWESOME this place is! Have to admit, it was a bit of a gamble booking off the web (as opposed to word of mouth etc), especially when every place in Raro seems to be offering the best spot on the island (and every site has their incredible sunset photos). So, we ended up going for the pricier end of the market in the hope that this place would "do what it says on the box". It did, and beyond. Its a special place, and its not just the amazing private villa, but also the love and care and attention to detail that the hosts, John and Hinano, have put into the place. They take a lot of pride in making sure your experience is perfect, and nothing is too much trouble (thanks for the fresh mahimahi on the last night John, beautiful fish though my skills on the BBQ need sharpening). We especially liked the fact that, if you wanted privacy (as we did, it was our honeymoon after all) they left you to your own devices. If you needed something or wanted a chat, they were there for you straight away. That folks, is what the whole tropical paradise experience should be all about! Take my advice and stay here, even if it works out a little more cashola than the place down the road. You get what you pay for, and more - there's a magic here that you just cant buy. You will not be disappointed and, as we will likely do, you will return again and again.

Hinano and John are excellent hosts - the beach bungalow was a real home from home. Our hosts facilitated a fantastic team to arrange and deliver the most perfect wedding on the beach in front of our bungalow, they even arranged a perfect sunset! We will never forget this experience and hope that we can return one day to re-live the most wonderful time we could have hoped for. Rarotonga is a beautiful island with beautiful people - and you will enjoy your time here. Relax and enjoy! John and Hinano, we can't thank you enough for making our stay so perfect! We have renamed this piece of paradise "Honeymoon Haven"Our stay was magic and exceeded all our expectations.
How wonderful to stay somewhere that delivers on every promise that you read on their website. The photos are real!

We arrived late at night exhausted after our wedding and travel,we awoke (after a perfect nights sleep in an extremely comfortable bed),the next morning to absolute paradise with peace and quiet.

Your Hosts at Heliconia Hideaway - John and Hinano, are two very passionate people who are friendly and helpful. They gave us the privacy we needed and never intruded or imposed themselves on us at all,but made themselves available to help us learn more about the island and its culture. Her Cafe and garden across the road "Maire Nui Gardens and Cafe"is the only Organic Garden on the island which is devine and the cheesecake to die for- voted best on the island( sweetooth world wide blog)

WE bought local produce and got salad and provisions from local supermarkets and local stalls by the road to cook our own food on the Modern BBQ.A bottle of wine comes complimentary and we were grateful,so we didn't have to leave the Villa for 3 days!

Drinking champagne in the stone bath tub under the stars, having our own in house chef for one night with amazing seafood, massages on the verandah with live wave sounds as your soundtrack, watching the ocean and the sky turn into amazing sunsets were just some of our highlights.

Excellent water sports equipment.Excellent snorkling(actually don't need a snorkel the water is so clear)We stayed at other accomodation on the island but nothing beats absolute waterfront and your own private beach.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone on their honeymoon or even for a wedding ceremony.Life IS Good! at Heliconia there is nothing to worry about!

Who would have thought such a beautiful place still exists in the frentic existence we call life. We stayed for 5 nights on our honeymoon, but wish we had stayed longer. The snorkelling out front was amazing, the kayaks fun, the serenity money just cant buy enough of. The raw beauty that this place posses is hypnotic, conducisve to some serious relaxation and the necessary enjoyment that goes hand in hand with such a relaxed beautiful place. Hinano & John have built something truly unique and amazing that can not be compared with any other place on the island. They are the most wonderful attentive hosts who would jump to any need or request, their personalities is what adds to this special place, warm, friendly, sincere and endering are a few adjectives that spring to mind. On our last night we had a few drinks with them in the afternoon and they gave us some invaluable tips for our trip up to Aitutaki, John even gave us another bottle of his wine from his winery back in Oz to take up with us. Upon asking us when we were back in Raro we told them of the all day wait in Raro after Aitutaki for our 4am flight back home and they offered us the use of their Beach Bungalow which is next door for that day for just the cleaning fee of $50. This type of hospitality is unheard of anywhere else we were gobsmacked but the generosity. The beach bungalow is a great little 2 bedroom cottage all be it not as luxrious as the Villa but none the less on the same beachfront and would be perfect for a small family or two couples on a bit more of a budget. It offers still kayaks and snorkelling gear etc. Hinano and John please dont change Heliconia as it is unique and does not have to compete. We will be back and have done nothing but sing the praises of this wonderful place to anyone who would listen.
