“A bit of a let down”
Review of Talisker Beach

I was rather disappointed with the beach. The sand and rocks are greyish black and you have to pick your way through the sheep droppings before spreading out your picnic rug. I know I'm a spoilt city-dweller and like everything pristine, but the sky was grey, it was cold and windy and it wasn't an easy walk to get there. Having said that, the place was peacefully deserted and we did enjoy watching the rolling waves. Bet it looks better in the sunshine, like a lot of things.

The beach visit is not for the faint hearted. You have to leave your car at Talisker House and walk. It is a good 20 minute plus walk to get to the beach then a difficult walk over large stones to get to the beach. The sand is black and white which when mixed makes very unusual patterns. We spent an afternoon with the boys enjoying the cold water. The views leading up to the beach are really breathtaking. When we visited it only had 2 more families which added to the whole experience. If you are looking for something out of the way and memorable....head here and be prepared to be wowed! I will be back. Not for disabled visitors or those not very steady on their feet.

We decided to take a visit to talisker bay to judge it for ourselves and so glad we did , we spent a whole morning enjoying the views and watching 2 teenagers and 1 dog totally enjoying themselves in the crystal clear water , the sand is the most amazing colour when the tide is turning back out , we were even blessed with glorious sun shine , definatly going to return here X

Nice spot, but disappointed with how much rubbish had been washed ashore. Understand that this is a stormy beach but it was still disappointing. Check tide times if you want to have a good look. Low tide would be better and I would think more romantic in the evening.

There is about a 1 to 1.5 mile walk to the beach from the parking area, but it's worth it. The beach is secluded, quiet, and very scenic. Take it in at dusk if you can manage - sunset is probably too late, but we were there around 7 PM and it was glorious.
