Owner description: Talisker Distillery is the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, set on the shores of Loch Harport in the village of Carbost. Come and visit us for a tour of the Distillery, see our 5 copper pot stills and the traditional worm tubs that make our Talisker so unique, then take a look at the casks in the warehouse where the Angel’s Share is lost to evaporation during maturation. Have a taste of our award winning Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky in our Visitor Centre.

I did not do a tour, I only came to say I'd been there. I love Talisker and wanted to buy something from the shop. I got a bottle of the 10 year old and a rocking glass!

The shop area is closed just now whilst the build a new one? But the shop goods can be purchased from the show room area.

Stopped off here on our way up to the north of Skye. It is a good tour, informative, they are in the process of upgrading the visitor facilities so you don't get to see as much as you would normally but the setting is beautiful. Not entirely sure our guide was a whisky fan and as with many other Diageo distilleries, the guides do sound like they have memorised the facts from a book but if you like whisky and are on Skye, it is a must! It's an ok dram, not the best out there but definately not the worst!

The tour of the distillery is very well preformed. The process of making whiskey is clearly explained, and the stops inside the distillery are also well thought out. The guide uses mic and loudspeakers at each stop, making it possible to hear him/her over the noise of the machinery. One grade minus to the attraction for not allowing photos because of the fire hazard (while some other distilleries apparently are flame proof and do allow photos...). Tours every 30 min,

Tasting in the end includes a sip of Talisker 10y. At my point of visit - they were out of Talisker 57 degrees - they expected it to be back in stock again in november. 3£ discount voucher if you do the tour, valid when buying a 70cl bottle of whiskey only.

It was a great afternoon out. I went here to pass a rainy afternoon and had a fabulous time. The tour was very informative and you got a cheeky little dram at the end :)

If you like the peatier malts you'll love Talisker & the tour provides the insight into the making of it & a taste of it. We got a voucher for money off a special bottling too!
