After sharing a dozen of these huge oysters we reluctantly admitted they were superb, even surpassing the taste of our favourites from the pristine River Clyde back home in Southern Australia. I look forward to my next visit!

“Eat there, if anywhere close and if you like raw oysters!”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

This was one of my favorite places to eat while in Scotland. I hesitate to call it a restaurant because it is really like a small seafood market in a metal building, but they do serve several hot seafood items from a food cart and very fresh oysters! They have 2 or 3 barrels you can stand by and eat. These are some of the best oysters I have ever eaten. The condiments were lacking but the oysters were outstanding. Value is very good!

“Hidden gem for seafood fans”
Reviewed July 25, 2014 via mobile

We stumbled upon this place on a recent to Skye. Glad we did. Oysters and mussels and fish soup were delightful. Produce on sale looked awesome too such as the scallops and even utensils on sale were reasonable.

We met Paul the owner who was very friendly and happy to discuss his products and how he farms them etc and I noticed him chuck in an extra oyster or two to a foreign family of visitors who purchased a load of them!

Views from the outdoor tables over loch and mountains was also good.

Close to Talisker distillery too and next time on Skye we shall be paying Paul and co another visit

The oysters themselves were very reasonably priced but I found the portions of take away food to be very small and not very good value. The soup came in a tiny plastic cup and a seafood platter for one was very small as well, once all the shells got removed. I wanted to have a meal but ended up still being hungry and had to go elsewhere to eat more. Regarding the goods inside, they are all local produce but once again quite expensive and clearly oriented on tourists. 7£ for 120gr of smoked salmon? U can buy it cheaper in London.
They do have, though, a great variety of lovely pates, which are also very good as a souvenirs for friends.

“First Class Sea Food”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

The Oyster Shack is just up the hill from Carbost. We were staying just 6 miles from the shop and paid 4 visits. The oysters themselves are reared and farmed by Paul ,the owner, and are the best fresh oysters I have tasted.

We ordered sea bass and various pates and cheeses. They were delicious.

We also had the seafood platter and soup,as a take away .The six of us enjoyed it immensely.

The staff were friendly and fun,it was a pleasure to pop in ,look around ,taste some oysters and buy the freshest sea food around.Well recommended, and very reasonably priced.
