“What a fantastic stay!”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We found our way to the little town of Carbost and into the warm inviting home of Marcella and Ian.
Great beds, delicious and beautiful breakfast, and most of all, caring hosts who did everything they could to make our stay memorable. Maps, advice, fabulous shortbread, and a wpnderful view pf the Loch all combined to make this one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in.

Wonderful part of Scotland to visit. Wilmar was a great home base. Marcella was very kind and provided us with an amazing breakfast every morning. She was very knowledgeable about the island, and even provided us with gortex pants for our rainy stay. Highly recommend.

Whilst looking for an artisan cookery course birthday present (around the London area) for my partner, stumbled on Marcella's and Ian's site and thought, why not combine cookery and a long overdue trip to Skye and even better having the two under one roof. Looked at the positive reviews and booked it. What a grand weekend. I had decided to take part in the course too despite my intense dislike of cookery and had a fab time. The course was great fun and the accommodation heaven. The ingredients used were as organic as you can get, Marcella was great fun and we had the bonus of retiring back to superb rooms. The breakfasts were YUMMY and the shower in our room (The Edinburgh) was so strong I didn't want to get out. The Old Inn pub is 3 to 4mins walk, great traditional music on the Friday night. Talisker Distillery a further 30 seconds on. Close to Glenbrittle, the Fairy Pools and Cuillins. Tasty Oysters bought fresh from The Oyster Shed, Paul was lovely. We're saving our pennies to return to Wilmars and hoping to attend a future advanced Course. Pip and Berry

It was indeed no will o'the wisp that we'd followed here in summer 2013, but Tripadvisor. There, that's putting it into plain words. However, there is nothing plain about Wilmar, a wonderful home away from home in the lovely little village of Carbost, Isle of Skye. Carbost itself is a tranquil haven of peace, with a shop-cum-fuel station-cum- post office, an inn, and the distillery, plus the sea. What more can you wish for?
Wilmar is a nice house on the right hand side when you enter the village (there is only one road). It has a lovely garden and grounds to explore leading down to the water. Inside, Marcella has decorated a beautiful home: guests can choose between the Glasgow and the Edinburgh room, the difference being in colour scheme and the fact that the Glasgow room has no en-suite bathroom. Which is no matter, because the bath is just down the corridor. We were staying in the Glasgow room (reds and greens, as opposed to Edinburgh's blues). Every day, we found another nice surprise waiting for us, such as cake or cookies, and fresh flowers from the garden. It is Ian's hens that provide for breakfast eggs. The breakfast menu offers a rich choice of fish, traditional breakfasts, and fruit. Marcella bakes her own bread! We loved everything. On the day of our trip to the outer hebrides, the two prepared a lunchbox for us. They did everything to make our stay memorable. When we got engaged, Ian gave me a rose from the bush outside the Glasgow room's window, now sitting dried on our mantlepiece. Wilmar is a place with a soul, run by people with a great heart. Thank you so much for having us at your place. We'll certainly return to Skye one day.

Excellent bed and breakfast , very welcomed by our hosts Ian and Marcella . Beautiful summer colourful cottage garden . Had tea in the garden when we first arrived , with the friendly hens . Very nicely furnished rooms with a nice sitting room to sit and relax in , lots of reading materal to plan our trips while staying in Skye . The breakfasts in the morning was wonderful and we had lots of choice . Caboust was a small fishing village and we were able to walk to a friendly pub had great fresh fish choices that came in that day . Local entertainment twice a week , Skye is a wonderful get away it is like stepping into a time tunnel of 10 yrs ago . Everyone is friendly island my only regret is we should of stayed longer 4 nights wasn't long enough , but we will visit again and use Ian and Marcella b&b again . I can highly recommend .

Room Tip: Great location to go from to other locations during the day , and perfect place to rest each evening...

First impression on arrival. Beautiful, in summer certainly colorful, cottage garden.
Very nicely furnished rooms and super beds. The bathroom was decorated tasteful and all was very clean and pleasant.
For the guests is a pleasantly decorated living room available. There you can read the many books about the isle of Skye.
Exceptionally good breakfast, everything was available and fresh. Recommended salmon with scrambled eggs.
The talisker destilliery is in walking distance, super.
The pub is even closer than the destilliery and serves good pub food.

Wilmar B&B is located on the talisker bay, from the Edinburgh room you have a beautiful view in the garden and over the bay. A recommendable base to discover the isle of Skye.
We are fully committed to come back.

Andreas
