I used to live in Corbridge 45 years ago and remember this hotel from when I was six. On a recent business trip I stayed again for a night and really enjoyed it. The staff are without exception welcoming and friendly, the bar buzzes (even on a Monday night) and the food was good. The rooms are compact and you'd need to use the (slightly noisy) aircon on a hot night as an alternative to opening the window and subjecting yourself to the (very noisy) kitchen extraction fan. Not a big deal though.
There's a few great little touches like a DVD library and boot (both walking and wellie) to borrow if you need them. Oh and the hotels own fish & chip shop is conveniently location in the back yard.
All in all a great place to base yourself for a night or two.More
