This was a very pleasant overnight stay. We were in room 9 (across road from main bar) and it was beautiful. It had lovely views, big very comfortable bed and a day bed. We were with a big group (including lots of small children) and the hotel, bar and restaurant were very accommodating and helpful. The food was quite good too. Corbridge is a great town and this place was perfectly located.

I have just returned from two nights at the Angel. Firstly, the town of Corbridge is beautiful and the hotel and staff match the expectations.
The rooms we had were stunning, very boutique hotel. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff very friendly but efficient.
Because the Angel couldn't do us four nights we moved onto the George at Chollerford which was the other end of the scale. Read my review of that place. It should take a leaf out of the Angels book on how to run a hotel. I'll definitely be back!

Room Tip: We had a suite comprising of two double bedrooms, a sitting room, small kitchen and a shared bathroo...

After a wet and windy day's walking Hadrian's Wall, we found The Angel, quite by chance. A lovely buzzing atmosphere in the bar area (yes quite noisy but appreciated it was a Friday evening), but quite exceptional food, Ox Cheeks so meltingly tender and served with sufficient vegetables as part of the dish. Good robust portions and served by a very young and efficient team. A great end to a perfect Birthday day.

We had been recommended the Angel as so few good eating places to the west of Newcastle. Arriving via the car park into the rear door of the bar area, one was not filled with great anticipation as the clientele were noisy and generally young drinkers. We moved swiftly into the lounge area as the dining room was not open. This is fine but why have such low tables when offering a wide selection of bar food and daily specials. It is so difficult coping with soup from knee height with a shallow spoon - I should have worn my golf waterproofs !! Surprisingly the quality was better than average with a good, fish pie topped by crispy potato slices (far too many veggies on the side) and a pork belly on a spicy bed of butter beans, piquante tomatoes and peppers. Three mains, one starter, one pint of beer, five glasses of wine and service for £71 was deemed good value by my host. The Angel did a job of feeding weary travellers but little to fervently commend or entice a return visit.

Room Tip: Some bedrooms are in an annexe across the road. By a busy traffic lit junction so could be noisy

Met up with friends with Corbridge as a the midway point for us. The Angel seemed a natural choice and very happy with the welcome and the bedrooms which looked as if they have recently been refurbished to a high standard and everything was exceptionally clean. We enjoyed a walk by the river after lunch and then back for a drink in the comfortable lounge which has an old world charm with comfy leather chairs. Later decided to meet in the cocktail bar before dinner.
This was right out of character for the building with the building. Cocktails yes but why the "city centre" decor ? After all its an old country town inn with history! Dinner was in the Barn restaurant which was fine but lacked atmosphere for quiet dinner. The food was good and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their starter. The mains came and the lamb was just right. The only criticism would be the presentation which was too much on one plate making it look confused and took away them the excellent lamb. Perhaps the vegetables could be served as a side dish along with a small jug for the sauce? Keeping it simple and focused on the centerpiece would greatly improve the experience for the excellent produce.
The Angel Inn is getting close but just needs a bit more attention. Worth a visit though.

Room Tip: There is annex across the road that is used for more bedroom space.

We had an idyllic stay at the Angel Inn this weekend. Having visited a few times before we were already familiar with the excellent food and main bar area, but decided to stay over to fully enjoy Corbridge and the surrounds. Staff were attentive and welcoming, and without any pretentions. We were kindly upgraded to an apartment which was outstanding. The restaurant area is stylish and comfortable, and the food was excellent. The martini bar is a welcome addition, adding a unexpectedly different dynamic of opulence to the more traditional cosy-factor of the bar. Overall, the quality of the service, accommodation, bars and food made for a perfect day for us. The negative reviews below seem unrecognisable in relation to our stay. Having enjoyed this break as a couple, we'll be returning to stay in the excellent apartment with our children in the summer.
