Corbridge Roman Town

Attraction details
Owner description: Not all of the sites on Hadrian's Wall were heavily guarded fortresses. Corbridge was a supply base and bustling town where the Romans and civilians would pick up food and provisions. Today, you can still walk through the town's streets and experience a true time-capsule of Roman life. You can see a valuable hoard of objects found during excavations, including Roman armour and trinkets, which provide a fascinating insight into the life of a soldier.

Get the little ear thingy where you can here to the man speak. It tells you all about the history, and is great fun to listen to. Highly recommended

“Touchable History”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

The perfect place to take the family to soak up some heritage and history. It truly is hard to adequately voice the feelings of being back in time, and the wonder this historic location evokes. This is one of the UK's greatest treasures to pass down to future generations.

Lovely small fort, with a fantastic audio tour. Audio tour brought the place to life, as a result it has been my most favourite fort to visit

“great artifacts”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

the understanding of the roman town, its functions and lay-out gave you a feeling of a remote outpost on the roman frontier. great location for the romans to ford the river tyne and establish one of four northern roman forts in the first century AD.
