Beautiful church in the village. Has a concert every Thursday evening which is free of charge. Hard to imagine how they could build only using wood and not a nail in sight.
The church Is not accessible for a wheelchair, I was waiting for my husband outside. I cannot add any details. It is surrounded by a lovely forest and mountains.
A classic Stave Church in the Scandinavian tradition - all wood and beautifully put together. At the top of a small hill at the start of a cute little town. Complete with bell tower that rings out some gorgeous music. And along the trail of the Liebesbankweg/Lover's Walk that circles the around the small mountain. Which is just a great hike in any weather
Nice little church in stunning surroundings walk a little more down the road and see the memorial for the soldiers from Second World War that died from the area you will really get a good impression of how hard the war was on even the small societies.
This is a really exciting wooden, Stave church which stands at the top of the small village. It took three attempts before we managed to see inside; once there was a service in progress and then it was locked. However, our persistence paid off because the interior is really beautiful. Massive pieces of timber support the building, the pulpit and the galleries are all of wood, and there is some marvellous carving. We found this to be a truly stunning place. Entry is free although there is a suggested donation.
Enjoying trips to Norway over many years it was a lovely surprise to find this Stave Church in the village here - beautiful crafted woodwork - special atmosphere inside - many lovely outside vistas to photograph - would have liked to have had more time to learn about the Carillon - only slight downside was apparently they had run out of English translation leaflets and unfortunately my German is not up to much. Maybe next time!
