We stayed for 10 days in June and the property is great! Simone and Lucy are very professional and are quick to reply and to help with anything you may need. They are exactly what you want in a vacation property management company. The grounds are gorgeous, well maintained and safe for small children. My 2 year old son had fun running around playing ball, swimming in the amazing pool and searching for small lizards - the excitement never ended for him. Salvatore was welcoming and very friendly. He doesn't really speak English but understands so we were able to communicate with a little Italian, a little English and a little sign language. Checking in and checking out was a breeze. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the combination washer/dryer in the unit was a real plus! The property is within walking distance to town which has a grocery store, small shops, gelato (!), banks and whatever else you may need for your vacation stay. We visited Lucca and Pisa which are both easy to reach by car and we also spent a couple of days at the free beach in Viareggio. We were very pleasantly surprised by the free beach! We enjoyed our time at Villa Corte so much that we extended our stay for one more day.
A few things that weren't great:
*The 3rd bedroom (the single room) is on the lower level while the other 2 bedrooms are upstairs. This posed a problem with my 2 year old son since it was too far away for me to hear him at night. A layout picture would have been helpful in the rental listing. Our solution was to put the mattress from the single room on the floor in our room upstairs. A little disappointing since we specifically rented the 3 bedroom so that we could avoid all sleeping together. This set-up worked until we discovered mid-stay that there were several (more than 3) scorpions in the house which made me feel very uncomfortable having my 2 year old sleeping on the floor. Our solution was that I stayed with my sister in one room and my husband slept with my son in the other double room - the 3rd bedroom went unused. We mentioned the problem to Salvatore but he said that there was nothing they could do about it and that it was common in the summer months.
*The unit does not have a water boiler.
*The closet in the "blue room" had such a strong odor that we could not use it. We just used the closet in the hallway instead.
Since we did not think the water boiler or the closet issues were very big ones, we did not mention it to management. I know they would have done everything in their power to rectify the problems had we mentioned them.
Overall it was a wonderful stay and we would definitely rent at this property again.
