We stayed at Kicheche for two nights in October and this was the highlight of our three-week trip. You simply cannot fault anything: the food is haute cuisine, the tents luxurious without being ostentatious, the location by the waterhole superb (we saw elephants every day), the fires in the evening really atmospheric and the staff simply brilliant. Andy, the camp manager, is a wonderful host and has a wealth of knowledge about Kenya, wildlife and Africa in general. The guides, be it Francis or Mohamed, were absolutely brilliant: incredibly knowledgeable, fun to be with and patient.
The amount of wildlife we saw in the reserve was incredible and a much more authentic experience than in the more crowded Mara. The landscape around the reserve was unique too, with Mt Kenya looming over the Ol Pejeta plains. The lion tracking afternoon was unique. We really wish we could have stayed there longer and this will remain a truly special memory for us.More
