Just back from another great meal at Hosteria del Castello, finally taking the time to write about it!
The ambience is absolutely unusual: a mix of Indian, Maroccan, art and varied knick knacks in the absolute middle of nowhere in Le Marche hills. They have a most enjoyable terrace for the summer with little sitting areas for a sigarette away from the tables or a little chat over your after meal liqueur.
After their usual welcome with a small little alcoholic aperitif and a tiny bowl of thick barley soup today I had their amazingly big and varied appetizer including bits of frittata, cheeses, salamis, crostini, savoury fritters, fried ravioli, three different kinds of salad (3 of us shared 1 and it was enough). A huge plate of gnocchi in a goose sauce followed and I was unable to have a dessert that are always big and delicious.
The grilled meats are always very good and do try the fried breaded lamb that is very typical from the area.
What is also remarkable is their pizza! They make their own very good and natural dough (often also available with whole spelt flour) and it's very light, big and good.
The restaurant is along a gravel country road but it's well signposted and there's no traffic on the road, so just take it easy and enjoy the drive through one of the nicest areas of the region!
