“Great Xmas venue”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Was invited to a Xmas party. First impression was a little disappointing as it felt like a conference/training center. Rooms were rather small but functional. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient. Food was a very pleasant surprise considering the amount of people they had to cater for. Beef was excellent. Breakfast was of a very high standard. Disco was good and prices for drinks good value for money. All in all a very good venue for a party. Certainly would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here last weekend with a group of my friends for our annual Christmas get together, we all used to work together a few years ago for another well known Hotel chain. Due to our jobs we have very high expectations of hotels and this one certainly met them all.
As we pulled in we thought it looked very conference centre like, however as soon as you enter the hotel, this is not the case at all.
We got allocated 3 rooms altogether which was great, we all had triple rooms and they were beautifully decorated, with great facilities, plenty of toiletries, Lovely comfy beds and really quiet rooms.
We attended the “Lady Gaga” & “Cheryl Cole” tribute night, both acts were better than the real thing. The food was beautiful, nice size portions, piping hot & tasty, speedy & efficient service. There was a slight issue with one of the girl’s dishes, but this was resolved straight away with no fuss, and a complimentary glass of wine was given.
Bar prices were reasonable, very nice rose wine and the DJ had everyone up dancing all night.
Breakfast in the morning was fab, as the restaurant was full and we were a large group, we were sat in a lovely little room on our own over looking the beautiful lake and Christmas tree outside.
Overall, great value for money, beautiful settings, stunning hotel, great food and friendly staff. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time here, we were just upset that we didn’t think to make full use of the Spa as this would have topped off our weekend nicely.

Room Tip: We had a triple room and there was plenty of floor space in there for 3 of us to a room.

Apprehensive after reading some reviews but found very pleasant staff, and restaurant food excellant both at evening dinner and breakfast. Location and views over lake and golf course ideal. Bedroom lovely and warm on one of the coldest days, every where beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean only criticism would be bed and pillows a little hard but that is personel. Also couldn't get into swimming pool due to swimming classes, and spa was undergoing some work. However beats many chain hotels in many respects.

I stayed here for a recent training course and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms aren't massive, but are comfortable and quiet, despite being so close to the A1. The room was clean, the public areas were immaculate, and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The food was brilliant - every day I was there, I had breakfast, lunch and tea at the hotel, and not once did it disappoint. I was also very impressed by the facilities for training/meeting rooms too. If I needed to hold a meeting, conference, or training event in this area, I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

I have been here a couple of times and find it to be a good hotel for conferences or venues. The staff is helpful and friendly and the food is quite all right. We arrived a little late on Sunday and found out that the kitchen closed at 2130 and then the bar staff had nothing but crisps to offer as food.
The rooms are not the most spacious ones, so if you are bringing small kids you probably need to park the stroller out side or get a room bigger than the ones I have had. The beds are good, but the shower is placed to low, so if you are more than 170 cm you will have to bend. There are some golf courses just out side that looks good. There is a gym just 150 walk and this is well equipped. There is also only 5 minutes walk to the executive centre were the bar has a pool table.
The place has free wi-fi with good reception. I saw them advertise for various parties, but for me it looks like this is a typical conference/venue place.

We stayed for a couple of nights here, late booking as our preferred hotel had a flood. Nonetheless it's a big place and should have been able to cope with two more people - or not take our booking. It's really a conference centre rather than a hotel. The room was OK but dull, the bar had no atmosphere but some teenagers playing pool, they'd run out of cooked food at 9.00 in the restaurant we were sent to some minutes walk from the main building - and they said they had nothing in store they could cook. After some prompting we did get some toast and a minimal expression of regret. Very poor. The reception desk was unstaffed for some 20 minutes in the evening. Poor directions to our room, poor signage within the complex. May well be great for conferences and training, but not my idea of a good hotel. We did get a reduction in the bill.

Room Tip: I can only say that I would not stay in any room here if our experience was typical.

As I have said there are rooms at the conference centre which is part of this establishment so worthy of mention the food and facilities are great although the gym is a bit of a walk away. But overall great staff nice facility and easy to get to with the A1 nearby.
