The Strathardle is magic, we approached at night and we were greeted by the warm glow from the windows and an even warmer welcome. Great rooms, warm comfortable and a big bed. Great little bar, which had a locals darts match going on, so some top atmosphere. Fantastic meal in the restaurant. Definitely planning a return trip.

The Strathardle Inn catered for us at lunchtime today providing lunch for eleven including two small children. The service was superb, the menu simple and appealing. The food was superb with all items being chosen by someone around the table and top marks to all. A number of desserts were also enjoyed - all home made, fresh and delicious.

Quality coffee was topped up and Bendicts mints on the table.

Not one main course wa over £10, reviews stating expensive are unfounded. If you want a MacDonalds go to Perth - this is as good as it get in the Highlands and top value in an idyllic setting.

Room Tip: My job involves travelling from Cheshire to Orkney and staying and eating hotels. I didn't stay...

We never stayed here and only stopped for lunch en-route to Pitlochry. Must say that it was only because of an online deal that we stopped by but we will 100% call in again when there. We had intended to go for lunch on return home as was very good value but breakfast that we had in Pitlochry put paid to that!
I had cullen skink for starters and was meal in itself, Solly had ham hock terrine which was very tasty. For main I had venison which was "gamiest" that I've ever had and delicious, other half had haddock cooked to perfection. We had a cheek going for sticky toffee pudding at that point so only ordered one and barman sussed this and served two sets of cutlery anyway. This was to die for with toffee served in little serving jug; death by overindulgence and thankfully only short trip to our hotel otherwise asleep at the wheel!

We had an overnight stay here and had both dinner and breakfast during our visit. Our room was airy, light, clean and warm (see pics). The en suite was large with great bath and shower facilities - we couldn't have hoped for better. We knew the establishment had earned Michelin star status for its food, so we had dinner there to see what it would be like - wow! If previous reviewers thought this was standard fayre pub grub, then they must be cordon bleu cooks themselves, 'cos this place is special! I can heartily recommend the cullen skink soup - every little attention to detail is made - even the bread roll was piping hot. The main course I had was ham hough (or hock). Again, absolutely phenomenal and the portion would have fed three people easily! The presentation is even great. I noticed a small girl having dinner at the table across from us, and though she had a simple dish (sausage and chips), it was beautifully presented with a small individual jug of gravy, just for her. brilliant! The experience is even more pleasurable because whether you chose to eat in the formal dining area or the lounge, you will be in front of a roaring fire. Fabulous. The food is not the cheapest, but you will not regret spending the extra few pounds - you certainly get what you pay for! My only regret is eating so much I didn't have room for a dessert - and they all sounded delicious. Breakfast was wonderful too, with a selection of fayre to suit every taste and appetite. If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway, this is the place to go.....(though don't blame me if all you want to do is sleep after eating all that wonderful food!.......)

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 6 - lovely bright room with shower and bath facility in the ensuite. The room is...

We stayed at this Inn and was pleasantly surprised on arrival. It was nice and welcoming with lovely open fires glowing in both the Bar and Restaurant. On inspecting the evening meals menu we booked our table for that evening as it really did sound very appetizing. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a modern toilet and great shower(no bath) and suited us just lovely. On entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted and shown to our table, given the menu and and were informed about the daily specials on the blackboard. My Husband. Son(age14) and myself all chose main meals (no starters) which all three of us were delighted with, 3 clean plates all round, then were shown the desserts menu which were all homemade and therefore we made room for. Fantastic and well worth the money. I do not feel that the menu was over-priced for the quality of food that we received and were more than happy with our overall experience of the Strathardle Inn.

Food was at best ok chain pub quality and very overpriced the bar man is miserable in the extreme no smile or attempt to engage with customers. If you can i'd eat elsewhere. We didnt stay so cannot comment on anything else.

We didn't stay here but we did sample the bar and restaurant.

The bar is nice and homely with a nice open fire. Good range of drinks.

However, the food was way overpriced and, to be honest, not the best quality. I had a starter of strips of duck which were hard to find (there weren't many!). My wife's starter was equally meagre. The main courses were more substantial but lacked flavour. I had ox tail which was very fatty (I appreciate that this is likely but a little more trimming was the order of the day). The vegetables were undercooked. My wife had smoked haddock which was very boney.

Overall, poor value for money.
