“Surprisingly good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and varied menu in what appeared to be quite a small cafe. The staff were welcoming and helpful. There was a bit of a wait for the food but that was explained by the fact that when it arrived it was obviously freshly cooked. One of the best brie and bacon sandwiches I have ever had - toasted bloomer and packed with filling. The salad with a friend's jacket potato was a meal in itself and full of variety. Good coffee with tasty little shortbread biscuit. We will definitely return.

“A perfect place to relax with excellent food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

This delightful cafe is a little gem and has become a real favourite for my wife and me. We visit 2 or 3 times week as it is a pleasant 20 minute car journey from where we live in Bexhill. As I have a mobility problem, it really helps to have Disabled spaces very close to the entrance. In fact the car parking area is large and well laid out for visitors to the nursery gardens and plants with plenty of loading space. There are well paved walking areas into the main building which houses the sales area for the nursery and the cafe at one end. There is an excellent range of garden accessories, indoor plants as well as a great selection of home made produce, cards and gifts as you walk past into the cafe area.
The open plan eating space has modern pine tables and chairs for two or four people, well spaced apart and which look out onto the gardens. You can watch the terrific variety of food being made and cooked. Rupert and Sue are the two cooks who have created an inspiring choice of home-made food from locally sourced produce. We come for morning coffee or tea and choose from a wonderful range of cakes all freshly made. The cheese scones are my favourites. Served warm with butter they have to the best in Sussex. There is a great menu covering breakfasts, savouries and sweet foods. Every day there are 'specials' for lunch including crepes, quiches, soups, salads etc. Cream teas are available to
The only answer is to try The Lime Cross Nursery Cafe youself. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. Great value food, excellent service by friendly staff, and a delightful setting where you can relax and enjoy yourself for a morning's excursion or a light lunch or sumptious tea in the lovely East Sussex countryside. Located only half a mile from Herstmoceux village and not far from its famous moated castle and science centre.
