We only booked the hotel the morning we stayed. Ideal for visiting the area of Rye, Battle, Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne. Value for money, staff mostly young, very friendly and helpful and hard working. Room comfortable a bit dated and bathroom had been improved. It was the little things which let it down such as a few cobwebs in room, unused mattresses in the stairwell where the fire exit was, carpets in the corridors could do with a hoover and door to room could do with adjustment.
Restaurant menu was basic fayre but well cooked and tasty - cheeseboard exceptional.

I found the hotel very clean, the room was spotless and the bed comfortable.
The breakfast was cooked fresh by Rowena
I did though book one of the Better advertised rooms.
I had no complaints and in fact booked an extra night there

Relaxinnz has 24 Hotels and advertise the Horseshoe Inn in Herstmonceux as one of its finest from the Prestige collection. It's missleading and incorrect information continues" it offers charm outstanding service and hospitality and so much MORE!!!"

The "More" I guess would refer to the sex stained bedding complete with pubic hairs, the musty smelling shabby room with damp mouldy walls in the corner! Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling! the room we were given was reminissant of a 1970's shabby Motel in dire need of a revamp.
If you are not happy with sleeping in a room of this condition, tough luck.....don't think about asking for a refund! You wont get one!
We left promptly without staying there!
Two cars in the car park and not one person in the bar or restaurant on a Saturday afternoon says it all!

An awful place to stay!

I booked this hotel on line and then read reviews . As i was travelling with my husband ,son and daughter in law I was really worried by some comments. It just shows you should not believe all you hear.We were welcomed by all the staff ,the rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was great value and freshley cooked and the staff could not help us enough.I would recommend this hotel to anyone ,we had a really lovely weekend.and would certainly go back again.I think there has been a change of management since some of the previous comments and they are working hard to turn things around.

Overall our experience of the horseshoe inn was okay. We had our wedding reception and evening disco and buffet there. They made a great job setting the tables out as asked and the napkins were in the colour we requested etc and it all looked lovely!

Meal and evening buffet very good loads of food for buffet and good value for money.

Their downfall is better trained staff needed, rooms overhalled and cleaning staff's rooms inspected by the manager for standards weekly.

Fresh flowers needed all round and better resturant facilities.

This hotel has alot of protential!

For the previous two sundays we have visited the Horseshoe Inn as we are looking for a venue for our daughter's wedding. On both occasions we had a super carvery meal with beautifully tender meat and a good assortment of vegetables and trimmings. The serving staff were friendly and helpful, although they could have had more staff, nevertheless the service was good. The new Managers have been most helpful and obliging, showing us around the hotel and discussing our daughter's wedding plans.
I am a bit of an Aggie and Kim when it comes to cleanliness and I must say that the standards that I saw, especially in the dining room were excellent. We have not stayed overnight yet, however, the four rooms that I viewed were absolutely fine.
Obviously new Management takes a time to settle in, but we were so pleased with what we have seen and sampled on our initial visits that we decided that we would book this venue for our daughter's wedding next September.

Arrived here at 12pm to what appeared to be an attractive venue. Once stepping inside our general impression was well presented although no staff were there to greet us upon our arrival . After managing eventually finding a member of staff and being given our keys we were told our rooms were up the stairs . The rooms were very basic but clean ( ish) .
As for the restuarant ... well ...
We were told we could sit anywhere in the restaurant but when we started to head over to our choice of tables , another member of staff TOLD us we had to move and couldnt sit there . After 10 mins of debating the odds with a member of staff who had quite obviously had a bad day so far we moved to our new table .Being that the whole place was empty and we had paid a good price to stay and eat here We thought it extremely rude and unneccassary to be messed about .
Anyways ..We sat down and ordered our choices of food ( after another 10 mins of constanty being hassled by " are your ready to order yet ?" )
The food arrived at different intervals so we didnt all receive our meals at the same time .
The first plate came with eggs and ham and RAW chips , so that had to be replaced .
Next was the chicken and chips . On closer inspection it was noticed that there was fish eggs or whitebait type things on the chicken . When questioned on this the waiters comeback was " theyre all cooked together " ??? Then she proceeded to announce loudly how bad the chef was and he was new to this establishment !!
To be honest there is so much to mention I could write a book .
In mine and my families opinion this whole place is shabby and in dire need of staff ( with personalities )
Dont go here theres far better places and value for money if you just take time to do your homework !
