“Charming Guest house near the airport”
Reviewed July 28, 2008

We found this guest house after much searching, and were delighted with the pricing. It was a lovely place, the breakfast was excellent, and it had good proximity to bus stops, and train stations, not to mention the airport.

Hello! We recently stayed overnight in the Cranford area of Heathrow before catching a plane home the next day. The taxi to this bed and breakfast/ hotel cost 15 pounds one way and 10 the other with a different taxi. When we arrived the taxi driver dropped us off at a locked gate and left. We buzzed the gate for about 10 minutes before getting a response to let us in and then had to haul our luggage down the driveway to the front desk. The owner wasn't apologetic or in the least bit friendly. We were made to feel that we were inconveniencing her. The room we had was very clean but the hallway carpets and the room carpets definately needed replacing. The garden area was lovely as was the breakfast room where a huge breakfast was served but the husband was the waiter/ server and looked totally frustrated and basically ran from table to table with much impatience with the guests. I must say it wasn't an overall nice experience as the owners both need to work on their customer relations.

  • Liked — The garden and the breakfast room
  • Disliked — The owners
  • Tips/Secrets — I wouldn't stay here. Apparently there is an Ibis hotel chain near the airport which is supposed to be good, and clean and reasonable. Someone I met while travelling recommended both the Ibis chain and the Formula One chain for staying in Europe.

A friend who was returning to the US needed a hotel near Heathrow.

In the many we looked at, we found this one and it looked and sounded wonderful but we could find no reviews.

With three hours to go called and spoke to Eleanor (sp) the owner who confirmed she had a 'small twin' (her words) available at £67 for the room and breakfast.

Due to disasters with packing and the Underground, we did not get there until after 10. Eleanor was patience itself when we could not find it (my fault) and showed us to a very smart and immaculately clean room on the ground floor. Twin beds, wardrobe dressing table fridge and TV en suite with one of the nicest and most powerful showers I have ever used. The beds were comfort itself, and as we were too early a departure for full breakfast, Eleanor made sure we had cereal, juice and fresh milk in the fridge. She ordered us a cab which turned up on the dot and it was only 10 minutes to terminal 1. The towels were a very good size, which is important.

There was a lovely garden, which I managed to peek into and the whole property is very secure behind an electronic gate so that your vehicle is very safe.

Cannot understand why it was not on here previously! Sorry, the secret is out now.

Thank you Eleanor for your kindness and courtesy and welcome
Kris and Anna
